We've talked about the potential of the 2.2 engine.... the Murena was always a car balanced between comfort and sport, and the 2.2 originally seemed to strike a balance in the light car despite being tuned for a limousine. It was known as as an engine that would have much more potential and Matra made the S-kit and later finished production with the S.
But we know from BMW's almost identical engine (the M10, on which Chryslers engine was based) that there's much more potential in the engine in turbo or NA form. You target 90 bhp per litre resulting in a little less than 200 bhp if you keep the stroke and bore of the original engine.
Compared to the usually less than 140 delivered by the S's, that's seems an ambitious target, but is that the right target for a driveable 2.2-engine in the Murena - one that would strike a balance?
You know I have an engine project for myself waiting on my when I've completed my restoration. I've gone partway with a souped head.
I just hope we can get some ideas... I know there are different philosophies and I repect that people often like to keep their targets for themselves, but I'd like to try
