Has anyone ever removed the foot rest. Im asking because id like to fit some new speakers and it would be far easier to do so if i could I could take the rest out. Ive bought some nice replacement speakers for the doors and fitting them went well. I just want to do justice to the rest of the car.

Well i can get the speaker in but its the cover that gets in the way, but my idea is to remove the rest, fit the speaker and cover, then by hook or crook re-fit the rest. Best made plans! Without sounding like a chav, i cant wait to test them out when ive finished fiiting them, lets face it its got to sound better than 25 year old speakers!

Got the speakers in! even the one behind the footrest! It wasnt easy but it sounds so much better! It looks neat too, I used some 17cm Pioneer speakers (if anyone wants the code i can find it) in both the footwells and in the doors. The hole pattern is exactly the same as the factory originals (though the new ones are a tad deeper) so no cutting.
While i was at it i re-fitted the inner door panels so they dont look like they're hanging off, most of the old fittings were missing and had screws hanging in the fibreglass door panel (I used to fear the Mrs slamming the doors!). I got most of the new fittings from Halfords. I also moved the alarm sensors to a better place (Sunvisors were the problem), fitted them on the roof at the back (looks very neet), got all the lights in the interior working AND sorted two bits of trim that were doing my head in! You may have experienced the same, its the ones that cover the vents behind your head on the door pillar above the seat belt housing. The fixings were broken and every time you opened or shut the door they fell in due to the vaccum! The only problem not is that now they've been fixed the vaccum created by shutting the door is greater, resulting in an even harder slam by the Mrs! My poor car!
Well! Im very please with the progress on my car!

So much for progress! After returning from silverstone i got home to find when i closed the door, my inner door skin came off.... Back to square one! Has anyone cured this problem. I used some bits i picked up from Halfords which work similar to a raw plug. Seemed to do the job but within a week they pulled through the fibreglass.. Ideally i need something that can go either side of the fibreglass to both hold the plug and strengthen the fibreglass. Any ideas?
