Title: Needing an original Murena clock for the dash
Post by: Philbert on September 03, 2010, 06:06:37 pm
My clock has stopped working. It had been intermitent for a long time, so today I took it apart and found that an extremely tiny wire on the coil inside, has broken, I do not see any way to fix it, since it comes from the inside windings on the coil. No chance of just unwinding a few turns to have some wire to reattach. >:(

So is there any of you who have a clock left over from a scrapped Murena? and are you willing to part with it and at what price?

OOps. forgot that I am visiting Philbert, it is actually Jon who need the clock.

I may have a spare clock.  I will check out the loft and also try to find out if it is working!

If everything else fails I have one from the Murena we broke up for parts with Waldo a coupe of years ago.
I will have to check it though, as I have no idea if it works or not.

Got a Kienzle clock of the same size that works. Strangely, the second hand moves at a smooth rate, rather than jumps per second like the original. ???

On slight problem was that it was meant to be mounted vertical. So I took them both apart and swapped the dial over from the original. they were not quite the same size and the light was in a different location, but the adjustment knob was the same.

To make the original dial fit, I had to remove the plastic taps that held the new dial. Then I glued the old dial onto the plate and assembled everything.

Works great and looks good. ;D

3. gluing the dial onto the plastic base
4. dial and bezel installed in clock housing
5. finished clock

Hi Jon,

Do not you know which car has clock with the same size? Renault 5-9-11?

Edit:
I found a photo of a Renault 5 dash panel ...

Good to know.  :)
At the time I replaced mine I could not find one that matched exactly.
