So you think it's time?
The buddha miniature figure that sat on the v6 dashboard has left the car. Hopefully this will bring some luck to the project.
It's now in our window sill in our apartment, and it looks like it has finally understood, that we are the new owners of the car. So it has gotten a new chance to protect our famliy, but car is out of its responsibility now.
Well, concerning the v6, there is no v6 in that murena anymore.
In summer, Novitec took out the old v6, and we found that, it was beyond repair. BIIG HOLE in one of the cylinderwalls, two crushed pistons, and a bend pistonrod.

Look at the pounding
Do I need to comment on this?
Reason why the engine died is still unknown.
Danish Alpfa Romeo specialist, Novitec then tried to get a new v6 engine, but I decided it would be better to ship the car to Carjoy, and let them build a new engine, and use the spare parts, because they had done some modifications to the engine, that if Novitec should do the same, it would all become too expensive. (labour!) But Novitec was still very kind, and the price of the summer visit was kept down due to the situation. THANK YOU Novitec (good guys).
So I filled up the v6car with engine parts (had to take out one seat). Lazslo from Carjoy came with a broken leg
(drove a car with automatic gear
), and picked it up (really nice guy). So now my beloved v6murena is finally having a heart transplant.
But it means that until now, the project has been delayed for 1 year
. But luckilly we have the white one, and it drives like SUPERMAN! flies
.
I have just replaced driveshafts (no more banging noises when in going out of gear), replaced one sad trailing arm (a lot of rust), and got new springs (the dampers were fine). The list of repairs is becoming longer, and it feels good to know, that the car is in a very good condition.
Added some pics:
New shafts, springs, trailing arm...
As it is now (I think I have to sell it, if I get the v6 registered
)
Well, my 2.2 runs smoothly, so me and my wife do not complaint about having to wait for the big brother to come home from Holland. Well, okay I miss it of course, but we can live with the situation.
My wife loves the power and noise of the 2.2, and our newborn baby is having the middle seat for himself, and loves it.
I will keep you updated...
Best regards,
Jesper
