i have read that the timing on the murena is 10 degrees btdc, however could someone tell me where the 10 btdc is on the casing.mine has four large marks divided by smaller or half marks yet no numbers on the side
? no indication which is 0 or 10 btdc at all ??

There should be marks but they are on the vertical face. However, if you think about it, the engine rotates clockwise looking from the timing case, so the top of the flywheel is moving towards the front of the car and the last mark it reaches is top dead centre (0 degrees). Each major division is 4 degrees advance, so two and a half gives you 10 degrees before top dead centre. So the cut on the flywheel should be half way between the first and second marks it comes to as it rotates.
