Just to say there`s a 1989 Quadra on Ebay (eBay item number:131576391120 ).If I had the space,I`d have a go at it.Looks fairly complete and restorable.Hope this is of interest to somebody.
This Quadra was on eBay back in January this year and sold for about £324 IIRC. It doesn't appear to have had any work done since then and the new owner has put it back on eBay for sale again. It will certainly want a lot of work (and money) to bring it up to even to basic road worthiness from what I can see. However, anything is possible if you really want to restore one. The viscous couplings are the expensive and possibly unavailable item if you want working 4WD. My present one is good as the previous owner had replaced it a few years before I bought the car. They used to cost over £1,000 a few years ago. They are sealed and not serviceable. They last about 100,000 - 150,000 miles although this is variable from my experience (I have had or worked on at least six Quadra now). One had failed around 98,000 whilst another was still going well at 135,000 miles. My first Quadra coupling was getting tight at 160,000 miles (this is how they fail - they eventually lock up permanently) but still worked reasonably well otherwise.
They are great with working 4WD and winter tyres as I know from both my last and present Quadra.
