Title: Espace steering rack Post by: Elmo the Espace on March 27, 2009, 10:43:18 pm Hi
Can any one tell me the differences between a 1990 2.0i steering rack and a 1994 2.0i steering rack and if they are interchangeable. Many thanks Chris Title: Re: Espace steering rack Post by: roy4matra on March 30, 2009, 10:33:22 pm Hi Can any one tell me the differences between a 1990 2.0i steering rack and a 1994 2.0i steering rack and if they are interchangeable. Many thanks As far as I am aware Chris, the racks have different mountings, which is one reason Renault list them under different part numbers. Whether the base part of the rack is the same I couldn't say. You would have to compare them side by side. Which Espace do you need a rack for - 1990 or 1994? I think you may have a 94 Espace, so I presume it is for that. I have a spare series one Espace rack, still on the vehicle, but could remove it if you needed it. Other question is, are you sure you need a complete rack? What is the problem with it? Roy Title: Re: Espace steering rack Post by: Elmo the Espace on March 30, 2009, 10:37:44 pm Hi Roy
Thank you for your reply. I need to reseal or replace the steering rack on a 1993 Espace but have a good reconditioned 1990 rack and just wonderd if i could use that instead . Many thanks chris Title: Re: Espace steering rack Post by: roy4matra on March 30, 2009, 10:41:35 pm Hi Roy Thank you for your reply. Many thanks chris If you can fit it, it will probably be O.K. You need to check everything lines up, including pipe connections etc. Roy Title: Re: Espace steering rack Post by: Elmo the Espace on March 30, 2009, 11:06:23 pm The 1993 rack is leaking fluid from the input pinion shaft it is only a small weep but enough to fail the mot.
I have reseald racks before on other cars and can get most o rings, seals and have enough hoses and a spare pump to test it before fitting. Nothen worse then spending a day on some thing thats going to fail. |
