From time to time, interesting videos are posted on the www featuring Matras.
A few of us enjoy watching them, so please post here if you come across one worth watching.
A good place to start is of course the YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/).
I have two favorites there:
Interview with Henri Pescarolo about his famous crash in the Matra 640: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCv0QqxKEiw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCv0QqxKEiw)
And this one showing a wonderfully tuned J. P. Beltoise Murena on a mountain rally track:

So... go on! start digging! :)
Cheers,

I've a dvd called "la course en bleu", ou quelque chose comme cela ...
Half of it is on Matra . The other half on another little blue french car :D
But my favorites are here
1) With my 1975 Bagheera S on Spa Francorchamps tracks : http://naze2ooo.free.fr/images/spa_petit_avant_gout.mpg (http://naze2ooo.free.fr/images/spa_petit_avant_gout.mpg)
2) With my 1979 Bagheera X on the same location ;D http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=_zCBm7h-D5I (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=_zCBm7h-D5I)
I can try to extract some part of this DVD

Looks like a nice little drive you had there :D

AFAIK yes, I think it's a Sodemo tuned 2.2, bored to 2.5 and turbo charged to 360 hp :D

Doesn't sound turbo charged to me..

I think you are right, it's a group 4 Murena - they were N/A with very hot cams. I just re-watched the video and it stikes me that it's new - notice the Feu-Vert posters: I doubt if that business existed in the 80's and if they did, I'm sure they didn't have the same logo as they have today. This must be one of the actual cars that Politecnic used to run - wonderful! :D

The Club-Arnage forum whom we share the server wih (http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6199.0) has this one from the US in the 60'ies - it has two Matra 650's, one of them fighting for the lead:

Just found this
I like the turn with the yellow Bagheera and the gold Murena at 4:03, especially the way the Bagheera seems to handle the turn.
Pity we don't have any snow here now...!

Here is a very distastful clip from the 1980's. It shows our unsavoury English past. Thankfully most of this behaviour is now behind us, although only yesterday we had a headlining episode between West Ham and Milwall. It made the headlines because this is now not the norm. A good friend of mine who supports Tottenham alterted me to the Matra at the 2.16 point. I've looked at it and can't say for sure what it is. It is the black car. To me it looks like a Bagheera. Is it? What do you think?

I must congratulate your sharp-eyed friend. I would never have spotted that if I wasn't looking for a Matra. I have to agree that it's a Bagheera though. By the way, when are we going to see the Le Mans video on YouTube?
-
Hello Peter,
It looks very modern compared to the other vehicles around it. I tend to agree that it is indeed a Bagheera.
As to the Le Mans special, as you know Roy copied it onto my memory stick in Wales but I have lost the damn thing somehow. Along with my years accounts on the same stick! I think it would be too long for YouTube at 16 minutes. Also I haven't got permission to post it from Roy. I think it would be better to post an edited version as and when. It is a good one though. Watch this space.

Since I am new to this site there is a chance these videos have been shown before... But its still a nice little introduction to the Matra history.

My children gave me a framed signed photo of Jackie Stewart in a Matra Ford for X-mas which is great. The seller said is was possibly taken at Brands Hatch , but was not sure. I thought it was Graham Hill Bend before it was altered? The car I knew was a 1969 MS10 Matra Ford from a poster in my study. Then much to my amazement I had a small photo of this actual car at the event taken by a neighbours brother. I turned the photo over and he had even written on it "Matra Ford Winner of Race of Champs 1969 Jackie Stewart". A quick search on the internet confirmed this race and photo's were infact all from Brands Hatch.

Play the clip on this link below. Absolutely brilliant and just look at the crowds and the safety! :o
