Can anyone recommend a good outdoor car cover?
-
No, but I'd like to know too! :)

I bought a breathable one of ebay. Lasted 8 hours before it ripped!
It is now repaired and covering my murena inside my garage.
I also have a cheap one from Lidl or Aldi (I can never remember which one!) which is stronger but if I was using it on a car with a good paint finish I would probably put the softer breathable one underneath it.
There is always a danger with non-breathable covers that you will get condensation problems.

I have a good review in Practical classics,
classic additions lightweight @ £97 to 116 - www.classicadditions.com 18/20 BEST BUY
tyvek top cover @ £69.99 TO 100 - www.halfords.com 17/20
However I just bought one for £45 from car builers solutions - www.cbsonline.co.uk I'll let you know how it is once fitted, got it today

When you use a car cover and leave the car outside you must put something really soft over the car first, otherwise when the wind blows it makes the cover flutter and it tends to have an abrasive effect on the paint and flats off the shine.

I once had a classic addition cover for my 304 cabriolet and that sat outside, under the cover for 6 months of the year. The car was always dry and not scratched at all.
I suspect you get what you pay for.

I've been looking at the CBS car cover - I think it looks good and price is fair if quality is.... Have you had a chance to try it? what do you think about it?

Hi there, its fitted.. The medium looked perfect but its tight to the body work, and yet slightly baggy on the roof, but hey, its never going to fit in all angle. In hind sight maybe the larger size may be better but time will tell. My only bad comment was that there are no staps to tighten to the car, Ive made a few holes and used some rope to make sure it doesnt blow away... If you like i'll take a picture and show you how well it fits. Its raining now so we'll see how waterproof it is, but the material looks good and it looks well made..

Well it rained all night and my car was totally dry under the cover, and the best news abot covering it is that the sun wont fade my red paint so quickly, the only draw back to red cars!

That's very good to hear! I have the same concern about the red. Although mine has faded so much already that there isn't anything back to preserve, there will be when I have it resprayed one day. Based on your experience, I think I'll go ahead and order one now...

As I said, its a good fit in medium, but not perfect, some of you might want the next size up
-
Ive had a good play today, definately go 1 up from the medium, its too small!

Explain! What's the problem?

Ok after a full week of testing I will admit to feelining slightly stupid as after taking off the cover and accidently replacing the other way round only to find that it fits almost perfectly. Its now been tested in heavy rain and VERY strong winds and all is well. Heres a few photos to show the fit, a bit baggy on the top but over all a good tight fit.

Hi David
It looks quite good. I notice it's a bit baggy on the top, but not bad at all. Did you fit it reverse out, or front/rear? Good to know it can stand the heavy rain and winds. Did you fit any underside straps?

At first I fitted it back to front, it is a bit bagy on top, which holds pockets of water BUT none soaked through. So far I have fitted a piece of rope to hold it on, this goes under the car from door to door. I am also going to add two further ties, one at each end, these will tie on to front/rear toeing hoops, I think this shouls be enough to stop it flying off. That said its had some harsh treatment already and never lifted once... I guess you get what you pay for, but these things I guess don't last forever, i think for the money paid its great..

I just repied to Andy's post on the Bagheera forum re car cover
'I bought a car cover for a Porsche Boxster that fitted really well on my Murena.
It was made by Classic Additions, bought it off ebay. It was used (seller had already sold the car).
I think if you can get a good used quality Boxster cover would be better. (Some of these high end Porsche covers are over £300 new). '
