Nice work!
Yes, I think so. Mine is a belgian model with gearstick on the left and choke on the right, but it is somewhat damaged. I would like to have a new one and yours look very nice. With a bit of care and the old one as a template, it soulnd't be too difficult to make the correct cutouts in your glass fibre replica.

The price from Simon is 35 Euro. I do not think that is an insane price.

That's not too bad. But the belgian type is no longer available :(

im planning to use the "choke" as as the reverse-unlocker to the gearbox

I bought one from Simon. It was not very well made. There were several flaws in the mold they used and the gear shift pattern was just a sticker. I will post a picture when I come back from the US.
I ended up gluing mine back together and reinforcing it inside with aircraft aluminum. I will paint it when I redo the cabin.

I can only subscribe this! And the biggest problem is, that Simons "box" has not the square hole, but circle one. That caused damage of new boot because it's squeezed between gear lever and edge of the hole, everytime you gear 1st, 2nd, 5th and R :(
