In http://www.matrasport.dk/forum/index.php?topic=25.0 the locations on the Bagheera are described. It doesn't look the same on the Murena and i wonder where the chassis numbers are located?
I found one riveted plate on top of the rear bulkhead under the hood in front of the driver that might be a chassis code, that all.

Here's the text from the manual:
FAHRZEUGKENNZEICHNUNG
- Typschild : Am rechten vorderen Radkasten aufgenietet.
- Fahrgestell-Nummer (Serien-Nummer) : Im Windlauf eingeschlagen.
... and here's a picture:

My German is not so good... :(
Is that the only place where there is a chassi number?
-
Usually there are three locations, I think?

I'm pretty sure the workshop manual would list them and since it doesn't I don't think so.... maybe someone else can elighten us?

On my Murena 1981 the chassis number is STAMPED in the chassis in ONE place only and that is in front of the windscreen approx 20 cm form the edge right hand front wing, actually just on top of the fan for the cabin heater.
As the black paint under the windscreen has a tendency to peal off this paint has on many cars been redone many times (on mine almost every time I go to a Matra-meting) and all this paint might have filled up the stamped letters so they are very difficult to see.
You will also find the chassis number on the plate that is riveted into the inner front wing, but as it is riveted in it can easily be moved and competently it is not sufficient for the customs or for the inspection.
On the Matra cars you can usualy find other numbers stamped into the chassis, but this are codes for the different versions for different markets etc.. I do not know where to find this numbers on the Murena.
