If the description is correct it is a bargain!
Let's hope it goes to a good home!

Went for £510. Did anyone on this forum buy it?

There's another one on now.

Looks a bit of a shed though!

I have had some correspondence with him. The rear centre panel is also present and the windscreen is good (he tells me).
But the present price is too high for me to be interested.
Anyone interested in sharing costs? It is about 30 miles from here.
Quick response needed - ends Saturday at 1900 'ish

Did you buy it, or any of it Andy? I'm too far away to from the action but I imagine my car needs various bits and pieces that I'm not even aware of. (I haven't started working at it due to lack of space!) My Bagheera does not have alloys and I do like the design of the factory ones but have convinced myself that I'd like something wider than standard and possibly 14" or 15" in diameter.
I know she needs some better tail lights and I'm fairly sure these are shared by the Chrysler Alpine and maybe even the Sunbeam but I don't think they are easy to come by now.
I was in touch with a fellow tonight who has a Bagheera that is sort of for sale but he doesn't know how much he wants for it. I think it's been laid up outside for a while but it's a runner and the chassis was ok when inspected 18 months ago so probably a survivor rather than a breaker.

The eBay car did not sell, surprise, surprise, and I have sent him an email asking him to call me. Wait and see.
If anyone has a shopping list please let me know as soon as possible.

I am buying the windscreen from the Bagheera S2 and collecting it on Wednesday Sept 8th. That shopping list is still open. Please PM if you have any requests.

I collected the Bagheera windscreen this morning. The car details are...
Serial number: X6550 9X5 14479, but no papers. Said to be french registered. I forgot to look at the other reference numbers - sorry Spyros!
I assume this makes it a late model perhaps 1979?
There are a number of features I had not seen before and I have taken some photos on my phone. I will make a disc of them tomorrow and post them here.
I am trying to interest the vendor in listing the more unusual items on eBay.co.uk. He plans to do it this week.
- Rear "Matra-Simca" panel with a red background. Good condition.
- Original left side door mirror
- Right side rear light assembly
- Body panels look OK except for the nose cone which has a centreline crack.
- Front bumper with lights, fog lights and light covers with apertures (not the familiar flat acrylic covers)
- Instrument panel with square switches down the left side (not horizontally at the bottom as previously)
- All the seats are there in grey velour, not tweed.
Engine looks standard.
Car seems dry although parked outside.
Usual rust in boot and spare wheel well. I didn't check elsewhere.
He still wants GBP150 for the whole car and will keep it until Christmas in case someone wants some parts.
He would negotiate for individual items I am sure.
Location: 7 miles south of M25, J6 (Godstone) on the A22.

These are the same as those on the Murena.

Hi Pete,
Since Matra didn't update them for the Murena, semantically, you should rather say that the Murena switches are the same as those on the Bagheera ;)
As steering wheel, ... plenty of other parts ...
Andy, if the door pannels are made of the same fabric as the seats, this is a Bagheera X.
If they are made of a kind of black denim, this is a Jubilee.
The other way to easily distinguish them is to look at the clock.
A digital clock in the center of the roof panel with the window switches = Bagheera X
An analogic one but without the chrome surround in the usual location = Jubilee
The Jubilee was a special made only in 1979. But in rather high number and with a little bit less appealing interior than the X. Either are desirable. They must have been struggling to position it, just above the S and just below the X.
As for the announced value, if the red rear panel and the front fog ligts cover are perfect, only them will have this value.

From Roy Gillard this morning..

I think it was German - KLE-DM592
> I assume this makes it a late model perhaps 1979?
It is a 79 (the '9' just before the 'X' and the number 51 start to the
actual number). It was a Bagheera Jubilé Andy, thanks for the VIN. I
have this down to a Jim P*****r in Crawley.

Possibly since you have not seen a Jubilé before? All Jubilé were 79
silver with grey velour interior and red rear panel.
> - Front bumper with lights, fog lights and light covers with

German spec?
> All the seats are there in grey velour, not tweed.
As stated above.

In which case I can add it in to the November magazine.

Roy

:D They used to reward this in Classic & Sportcars

German spec?
Well no.
Jubilées came in 4 coulours.
And the light covers with apertures were standard as of 1979 models. They were addressing an issue with the previous model. In some markets (France ) they didn't had the front fog lights but long distance lights (Marchal 855 vs 850) and the owners driving a long time with these light on complained that the glas of the long distance light broke. This was due to the hot temperature behind the usual covers. Hence the cover with apperture to cool the lights.
Pedant2 ;D

Hi Andy,
I've been a bit quiet so far but the two photos above are quite relevant to this thread because this is the "Bagheera on ebay", now sitting on my driveway.
I'll start a thread and put up more photographs fairly soon. I need to resize them to something more board-friendly. These will give a better impresssion of it's overall condition in some of the usual areas.
It still has the plate with the chassis number (my other Baggy doesn't) and a think some people such as Roy G. and Spyros might want that information for their records.
-
So it did go to a good home! Well done!
Another one saved.
Great

I hope so .. ;D
Well done!
Thank you. I tried to resist bidding but temptation got the better of me.
Another one saved.
Well, yes, I promise not to do bad things to it but with me at the helm who knows when it might next have a fresh MOT!
I'll put a thread up later today just in case anyone is interested in looking at grotty bits of an old Bagheera ..
-
Congratulations ! ;)
-
Thanks Spyros! :)
I've given it a photo thread now:

After a long delay I am buying the rest of the Bagheera Jubille this week. I have already had the windscreen.
I rather like the idea of using the electronic ignition in the competition Bagheera whose engine ignition seems unhappy over 4,500RPM.
I am hoping also that the gearbox and differential maybe good for spares.
Any views on the Matra electronic ignition system? I have always used the "Lumenition" version on our Bagheeras and have been very satisfied.

Hi Andy
I used the system on my Simca Abarth race car with no problems at all.

Thanks JL. Good to hear! I may pick your brains later on!
