Why???????
It's actually "original" in some way. The M1 kit was sold by Saier Automobile until it was banned by BMW. Of course it would never be a real M1, or an original Matra Murena, but it does have a lot of originality.
There's a German web site dedicated to the subject: http://www.bmw-m1-replica.de/

Same one that Fred started the post with. Look at the right-most picture under the front pic.
This kit has obviously received some major reconstruction. Note all the unpainted areas of "virgin" fiberglass and plastic padding :o
Where would one get all the BMW parts to make it an M1 ? lamps, seats, dash, instruments, etc. etc.
I'm not normally a fan of the usual crazy Ferrari kit car lookalikes, it's all a bit, well cheap! But I have seen one of these done pretty well, and I think if your going to ruin your Matra, at least this kit looks like an M1 which I always think is a beauty of a shape, there were lots of these looking and sounding very nice at classic le mans.
Has anyone ever produced a body to replace the original murena that wasn't based on another brand, I.E. Coach builder and please no-one say the Beltouse mess... (sorry personal opinion)
