Title: Loud clicking coming from engine bay area whilst in 1st gear( mk2 Espace)

     Started for the first time today, a loud clicking whilst in 1st gear only, there is a difference in resonance whilst under acceleration compared to easing off the gas. As soon as gear change the noise goes, although I detect a slight whine in 2nd and 3rd. Not c.v joint as would only be detected on full lock. Any ideas would be welcome. Many thanks Mike.

Without hearing them, the cause of noises are always difficult to assess.

However, it may be your gear has a chipped tooth?

Well having taken it to a mechanic, his response was the same. So a second hand box was installed and no more clicking.
