Lovely morning, the car would not start lots of power but no spark. I believe it is the ignition module (Ignition Control Unit).
Does anyone know whether it is a standard module, and if so to what car.

Hello Kim,
The 1.6 and 2.2 use totally different electronic modules. So it will depend on which engine you have. The 1.6 unit is the same as on many of the Talbot models that use the same system. The 2.2 amplifier is the same as used on the Tagora and the part number is on my website.
However, before you condemn a 2.2 amplifier please make sure the system is earthing properly. I have seen many amplifiers replaced when the car only required the system earths cleaning properly. I wrote this up in a magazine article a while ago.

The 2.2 ignition module is exactly the same as that on a Peugeot 205 1.9 gti and should be available from many sellers on ebay.

Thanks that was just what I needed, so I should probably be able to get one here in Denmark. ;)

I can't see if it is a 2.2 but I presume it is.
I fitted this module and works OK.

I have reported that here. (scroll) a bit down.

Hi Kim.
Before you buy a new module, check the connectors on the ignition coil. My car once stalled during rush hour, in the outside lane, at a stop light, in the rain, no less. >:(
The problem was the power lead on the ignition coil. By just removing and reconnecting it a few times I got it started again. I since removed the oxides properly and have had no problems since.
With luck that may be the only problem. :D
