Good Day
Just after some reassurance concerning a timing belt change on a 2000 2.2dt. I'm assuming it's get the covers off, time it up,and replace the belt. It's obviously not the best for access but there you go.Excuse my ignorance , but could someone please explain why the crank has to be locked with a pin,I've done plenty of belts on other cars but never had to lock the crank. One last thing,is the crank pulley keyed,or is that the answer to the previous question.
Kind Regards

Locking pins are used to ensure you keep timing correct. It is the easy way. You can do it without but make sure you mark the pullys & belt with something like tipex to ensure you get it back together ok. But you knew that ;D

Cheers Brian
I live in the world of Ducati where tipex and timing belts rule. But nice to know it's just a precautionary measure.
