Our Espace III dT has had a hopefully very unusual problem.
I am working abroad and my wife has over the phone been complaining about the gear shift getting more and more difficult to operate. Such a problem is rather difficult to solve over the phone, so I advised my wife to take her beloved Espace to one of the few workshops in Denmark who knows the Espace. After struggling with the gearshift for several months my wife finally took the car to the workshop.
It turned out that one of the shafts inside the gearbox was broken!
The good news was that the shaft is still available from France. As the parts were ordered just before Christmas the car is not yet back on the road therefore I do not yet know the repair costs but I expect that it will be a major cost .-((((

would it not be cheaper to just get a secondhand gearbox and replace it? the amount of work needed to do the internals of the gearbox seem over kill specially when you could just get another one and fit it straight in. would be worth doing the clutch at the same time if old.

If I had been home in Denmark I would just had found a secondhand gearbox on Ebay and fittet it myself.
The clutch will be changed.

Not a cheap car to keep on the road :-(
