Title: Murena Rust
Post by: murramor on November 08, 2019, 01:58:05 am
Almost exactly 20 years ago, I imported a Murena from the UK - sight unseen.  To say that it wasn't in great condition is an understatement.  In our state in Australia, one can drive a left hand drive car once it is 30 years old so I decided that I would not try to convert it.  Life got in the way so I really only worked hard on it for the last 4 years or so.  Attached are some pictures of what it looked like when I got it.  Every non-galvanised bracket had almost completely rusted through  and there was plenty of rust in the formerly galvanised portions.

The car is now back on the road and registered as an historic vehicle.

Thanks for resizing them.  I did check that they weren't that big in terms of MBytes before posting but some did come out bigger than expected.

It's great to be able to drive the car after all these years and I get a great deal of satisfaction from knowing that its condition was so bad that, had it remained in Europe, it probably would have been scrapped as uneconomical to repair.

Nice job.
you worked hard the last years to get this result.
It looks good.
My 1.6 that I bought to prevent getting scrapped , looked much better underneath.
Galvanisation doesn't mean it can't rust anymore.
After 40 years outside without protection it will rust.
Now the fun can begin driving it :)
