Dear Matra enthusiasts,
My window mechanism just broke.
The plastic outer drive tube has snapped off. Just before the bend of the slider.
Does anyone have a tip for repairing or replacing?
it's the left hand side. And the motor is fine.
Thanks
Regards, Bart

I think that is more or less what happened to mine on the passenger side. Following this thread with interest.

Depends how much room you have and if you have enough existing tube before the break,
I used a 10mm plastic push fit pipe connector. Perfect fit and works great.

Ah that's clever, thanks

Hope I'm not hijacking this thread but I had a look at my broken passenger side mechanism and found out the tube snapped at the motor so the push fit pipe connector fix won't work in my case.
Would I need to get a whole new assembly including the motor or is it possible and easier to replace the tubing part? It looked like it's part of the motor and not easily detachable.

Just fixed mine with Pattex "ULTRA GEL" which for now honours its name.

Mine broke several times in the past 15 years.
Both sides on my1.6 are defect again.
I'm on a mission tofind a solution.
The Skoda felicia/favorite side doors back have the same mechanical system but it was impossible to fit.

Now I am busy to make a system from a subaru.
It needs some adjustments but I have good hope.

Currently my main issue is that the wiring is a bit shoddy. I hope to be able to replace some of the old wiring to make it work more reliable. Hope it works out with the subaru alternative 👍

I heve fitted the subaru windows regulators over a year now and they work good.
The units were after market universal ones and took a lot of adjustments to make a good fit, so I desided not to make a howto.
It needs a little welding to the mounting points, slight bending and shortening the rail, rearange the cables.
If you look around you can find systems with small universal motors that can be used..
Mine were from a Subaru forrester but in France they have used Smart roadstar units if my info is correct.
For the first time since 2012 I have the regulators to work fas en correct.
This is how they work now.

Oh wow they're super fast. I more or less have accepted I only have one working window that's super slow 😂
Neat solution with the mp3 player! That's also a great place to put a spectrometer or a graphic equaliser now that I think of it. Your interior looks really nice as well compared to mine 😂
