Title: Top console temperature indicator

The clock is working no problem but when I press the right hand button for external temperature I just get ----C

Any ideas what could be causing this and the best way to fix it?

Whereabouts can this sensor be found? I cannot seem to find any information in the Haynes Manual

I think in one of the side mirrors.
