Well... we have up until now washed our Grand Espace by hand, but wants to send it to a carwash near by. The problem im facing, is that I cant get the antenna off!! Is it ment to be like this? and should I put it in the antenna holder, just back the sunroof? I need some guidance here and wouldnt like ending up with a torn off antenna... ;)
Thanks

Mine can't be taken off too! I have washed my Espace many times at automatic car washes and there have been no problems with the antenna! It is still in one peace! :)

If I remember correctly the antenna of a JE can be removed simply by turn it like loosening a screw. I remember I have done it once before during automatic car wash, but not really sure.

Hi, my Espace is a 3.0 V6 from 1999/2000, if its any interest to the before asked question. But ill try and attach the antenna to the little holder back the sunroof and drive it through a car wash. Thanks...

Blom, you should use a pair of pliers to get it off ("papegųjetang") - to prevent the antenna base from being marked, put a cloth around it and carefully screw it off. It's probably stuck due to corrosion in the thread.

... OR continue with good smooth hand washing ;)

Hi Anders, ill try it with the papegųjetang, pour some wd40 intoit before and the see if i can twist it a bit. Thanks...

Well.. hmm ive looked in the car manual, and not beeing able to find any related info to the antenna, and wether to remove it or not. It doesnt look like its able to be removed, ive tried twisting it a bit, and its like the rubber around it can be twisted a bit, but even how hard i try it cant be removed. I have placed the tap of the antenna on the antenna holder placed at the sunroof, and hope it will stick there when doing the carwash... xxx my fingers.Strange though there arent any informations about it in the manual, telling how to take care of it??
Any final good ideas before the drive downtown? ;) :) ;)

Did you try with pliers?
If you can't get it off using pliars and a cloth try without the cloth. It will mark the antenna, but at least it wont get bent in washing :)
I've never noticed any antenna holder, can you post a photo, perhaps?

Hi Anders
Well, after pouring some wd40 into the antenna and let it soak in during the day and night, I went again with the pliers and the cloth and tried twisting it gently. The antenna came off, and we had a fine trip downtown for a nice carwash.
Ill see if i can post some pictures of the antenna holder, but its only a small piece of plastic, where you can fasten the antenna to. Would imagine you could easily take the car during the carwash when the antenna is mounted there, but wouldnt take my chances doing that.
Thanks for your good suggestions... and have a nice weekend.
