Title: 2.2 parts - group buy - Anyone need anything?
Post by: Waldo on May 28, 2008, 02:32:59 pm
Hi all,

I have found a car in Germany without paperwork!
Will recieve pictures from the car later today, and hopefully it's not to bad...

As I need the rear trailing arms and the other parts that differ from the 1.6, the rest would be up for grabs.
I know the inlet manifold and the gearlinkage is missing.
Car is green with brown interior and have done 111.000km and haven't been driven since 1989  :'(

I'm looking for someone to help paying the shipping  ;)

I will post more details asap...

Antony

I could use the gearbox

And a passenger electric window motor, if it works.

Post by: Anders Dinsen on May 28, 2008, 07:55:47 pm
I need that passenger window motor too... but they are available new, Antony, and not too expensive.
I'm looking for engine parts, but have a good head, so I don't need that.

As I mentioned in the other thread, please count me on.

- Anders

Jesper,

Some of the mentioned parts might be on my wish list as well... or at least the speedo/rev counter.

People got first choice on the parts you mention, as long as I don't take them.
Guess that's fair enough  :P

I prefer people to drop by my workshop to salvage the car themself... unless they live abroad.

By the way, it's a rather big job to change the roof... windscreen out and I'm still to hear of anyone who managed that without needing a new one  :-\

Ok.

Pls add this to my priority list :)
Front bumper, including front rubber and metal bracket.
RH door.
Drivers seat.

Hmm... coming to think of it my front bumper isn't very good either, but I have allready repaired it partly.

Anyway I'm sure we will figure out who needs the parts the most!

Otherwise we will need to start an buisness importing used Murena's...

Okay?

Well, please find out, what you need then. And tell me what I can get hold of according to my list, so that I know if its worth while going to your shop. If it ends up being only door pins, then never mind.  ;D

Where do you live?
Is it in Denmark?

Hi all...

Just got the shipping quote. Looking at 3800 DKK... not cheap but not to dear either!

Still waiting for some pictures of the car.

Jesper, I'm in Korsoer and you should be able to get all you listed, I probably don't even need the speedo/rpm counter...
Of course I can also send parts to people, but then i would need to get paid for my time...
The idea was to get very cheap parts to people in need and to cover the shipping if possible  ;)

Cool, Waldo.

I would love to come visit you and get the parts.
Perhaps when you are ready, other murena people could come at a specific date, and we can have a "mini dk-get together"

Looking forward to seeing some pics.

You can email me on murena@natkat.dk when you know how much you want for the parts.

Best, Jesper

I'll be happy to stay a while, and help carve up the carcass when I'm picking up the gearbox :)

When do you think the car will be in Dk?

First of all I'm still waiting for some pictures of the car... If it's in ok condition it should be here in a about a week.
The seller mailed this morning and told me I would have the pictures tonight!

Otherwise I will look for another 2.2 that we can salvage...

Title: Re: 2.2 parts - group buy - Anyone need anything?
Post by: krede on May 29, 2008, 07:50:04 pm
The previous owner had it renovated for no small expense.. and its only about  20-30.000km ago.. still its making a loud scraping sound whenever its not under load, so I take it that either the main bearing or the diff is gone.
Would be nice to have a spare box while I rebuild the other.

If you are looking for an another engine I can recommend the PSA HDI DW10TD, fits like a glove and almost no work involved in the swap...  :o NOT

It looks excellent IMO! Don't expect anything pretty if it has been off the road for so many years. It's dirty, yes, but everything is intact: Side mirrors, rear lenses, dash, and while the inlet manifold and carb is missing, the engine looks ok. It's there! This car could even have been a restoration project  :-X

Where in Germany is it?

Trailing arms are probably not good, but I notice that the rear end isn't sitting low or out of camber. Photos won't say much as they will show rust on the outside, but they could still be fine on the inside. I suggest you either ask the seller to check them for serious corrosion around the bearings, or just go for it. Chances are good that they can be welded.

I notice also that the water pipes in the engine compartment are relatively free from rust. Mine was much worse (now stainless steel :D )

And the front bumper is intact.

I'd like to claim the following items too:

Rear struts (springs)
Side mirrors...
Rear lenses...
The radio and equalizer - real 80's items ;D
Header tank

Yes... I completely follow what you're saying.

I will ask the guy to try and put a screwdriver throug the trailing arms... that if it goes in it's a no go  :P

Otherwise I will book pick up for next week!

Anders, you are starting to put your dirty little hands on a lot of parts...  ;)
You might end up paying a decent amount of DKK  ::)

Another questions!
Does anyone of you know a Jacob that lives in Valby and owns a Murena 2.2?
Just spoke to the guy and he might buy my spare set of alloys...

I'd never do that, I just wanted to know to make a judgement about how bad it would be. Kassel is a good area in Germany regarding corrosion - there's a bit of mountains and snow on the roads, but not badly and generally it's a very dry area where cars last almost forever.

I know from people who has imported stuff.

Yes, I know I'll have to pay for what I get!

OK... Just been on the phone.

I have now bought the car. Seller told me the left hand trailing arm looks good, the right hand had corrosion but not through... (kein durchrosten).

It will be picked up on the 6th or 9th of June and should arrive a few days later.

I'll keep you posted.

PS: It was owned by a guy (who is now passed away) and was keept in a barn for many years! Another reason to believe it isn't in a to bad shape... fingers crossed  ;)

I might take the entire engine, since Im helping my cousin move from Kbh to Denmark around the first of July... and i'll be driving the van ... think I can find the room for it..
Given that the price is reasonable and that no one else have better use for it then me :)

I would also like to claim the the door metal window frames, and the L&R front and rear wings (skærmene) if on one has so far.

Ps: I agree with MrDinsen.... that car looks like its in pretty good nick for what it is, you get A LOT of useful parts.

Hi all...

OK, so we have the following reservations so far:

Krede: Gearbox, front and rear wings
Jesper: Some interior parts, gear shift and the roof
Anders: Engine (-head), right hand door and a lot of other parts!
I'm taking all parts that differ from the 1.6 version and probably also the rear bumper...

Though Anders and I might need to armwrestle over some of the parts that always seem to break on our Murena's (rear lenses, drivers seat, side mirrors, front bumper and so on)  ;)

Krede,

I'm also going for some leather upholstery... I'm seriously considering Poland, maybe we can get some group discount  ;D

Concerning the wings, I might need the rear L+R... by the way, do anyone know how to take them off rather easy?

The procedure is described in the workshop manual. I'm sure you will not find it easy, but it is possible of course. I have scanned the pages for you, starting with this one (there are four pages on the subject):

Sounds like a good idea. Weekend 28th/29th will be busy for me, but the following weekend 5th and 6th of July are free. I can bring two young, but eager, lads too :)

I'll keep that in mind! I want to extend the seat back on the standard seat, and as I like the grey velours, I'll see if I can reproduce that somehow. Should be possible, though it will take some work. It will be fun, though :) I've never worked much with a needle, but I'm pretty sure I can get my mother in law to help me with the cutting and the sewing machine. I'll need some spare "buttons" though.

Anyday before the 25 of June, I'm eager to go visit you Waldo. And if you know anybody who might be interessted in buying my white murena, please tell me. I have a hard time putting enough resources into nursing two murenas.  :P

Btw. if nobody have mentioned the front window, and if it is in good condition, I will be happy to grab that too.

Well, let's see. But if you have some day before the 25 of june, it would be wonderful. And if you could announce that date here on the forum, berhaps other people would join in. ;D

Best,

Well... not sure about the date yet.

I would like to have the car in Denmark before making arrangements, but I have ordered the car to be picked up on friday the 6th. Should arrive early next week :)

I'm kind of busy the next few weekends, but maybe the 15th or 22nd... But to be honest a weekday would be better for me  :-\

I don't know anyone who's looking for a Murena at the moment, but I think your car looks very nice and seems to be good value as well...
Have you tried listing it for sale in germany or sweden? (mobile.de / blocket.se)

By the way, I got more than enough Murena's at the moment, still got my project car and a german 1.6 sitting at my workshop...

15th is out of the question for me. 22nd probably too as I think my wife wants us to be home the following weekend after me and two of my lads have been away to Le Mans. Week from 23rd to 29th is pretty bad - it's midsummer and we will have a busy schedule.

I can probably take a weekday off if needed, but why the rush? - better have the necessary time to do the work. Especially on the heavy drivetrain.

Hi agian,

Anders, no rush here... I will just take the rear trailing arms off the car when it arrives, or cut them off I should probably say  :-[

It's just that Jesper seems to be in a rush...

Jesper, do you know how to get the windscreen out without breaking it? If so you are welcome to buy it as well... I have a new windscreen sitting in my workshop for my project anyway.
How is your V6 getting on by the way?

Best chance is to carefully remove the rubber trim, scrape as much silicone out of the gap between the chassis and the glass, and then see if you can get a piece of strong steel wire in under the screen. In theory it should be possible to break the silicone adhesive without breaking the wind screen.

Super... oooh yes!
my beloved v6.... ITS BACK!

 8) 8) 8)

But I have to drive it gently, because the engine has been repaired.
My wife and me took the white 2.2 to puttgarden and drove both murenas home thru denmark. ITS AMAZING to drive in line with two murenas. And actually, we managed to go to Klampenborg gallopbane for the "auto jumble", so the v6 was merely in denmark, before it was on display. People were very curious hehe  ;D

My god, I am so happy, and look forward to get the car tested and getting the plates. Hopefully it will be approved this time.

And that v6, WOW there's SO MUCH power. Plus, the sound is wonderful. Still love the 2.2 sound also.

My wife actually said to me yesterday, that she would now have a hard time selling the white murena, because now she loves murenas in white!
Well, if we keep them both you will not see me cry hehe  ::)  ;D
Also got a lot of positive remarks about the white paintjob on that car display.

So no the summer is welcomed.
Best,

Jesper

Hi Jesper,

Shouldn't be problem for you to drop by... Not sure when the best time would be though!

I'm busy most of this week, and I'm attending a wedding on the 21st...

Maybe a week day?

I guess you are looking to take mainly the interior parts now? The windscreen / roof is a rather big task I guess?
Must say I did my best with my project car to take the windscreen out without braking it, but didn't succed... got a cousin who's working at a car dealer, and we did have all the correct tools, he came to the conclusion that there was no way to get it out in one piece!
But you are more than welcome to give it a try...  ;)

Anyway, let me know if you can drop by sometime next week, as I said the car is located near Korsør.

OK... just had a quick look around the car.

Engine is definetly not good, got a big hole in the block, looks like a conrod failure  :-\

An rear accident at the left side seems to have occured, as the bodywork is marked and something seems to be out of angle...

Good thing is the parts I need ,looks to be in good shape... Trailing arms looks intact, though have some rust on them.

Interior is ok...

Yo Waldo,

Please email me your phone number at murena@natkat.dk so that we can find a day during next week. I would love to get some of the interior etc.

And furthermore, it would be nice to meet another murena-fan. I have still not seen another murena in cph city center, so I am trying to "wave the flag", by keeping my white murena chilling around the city as much as possible  8)

Best regards,
Jesper

Please email me your phone number at murena@natkat.dk so that we can find a day during next week. I would love to get some of the interior etc.

And furthermore, it would be nice to meet another murena-fan. I have still not seen another murena in cph city center, so I am trying to "wave the flag", by keeping my white murena chilling around the city as much as possible  8)

Hi Jesper,

You've got mail  ;)

I have seen a Murena once in Copenhagen so far... a red one parked under Bispebuen in NV / Frederiksberg.

Does anyone know how many Murenas that are reg. in Denmark?

I'm aware of the following:
Henrik - Kalundborg
Jesper - 2 and counting  ;)
Anders
Lennart (former danish car I guess)
Krede
Jacob - Cph
Poul - Højslev
Finn - Ramløse
Hans

My guess would be some between 20-30 cars in total... but that's pure guess work!

Seems like Lennart have managed to get quite a few people interested in the Murena with all the information he have put on the internet...  :D

I put my name on the engine minus head, but as the engine has turned out to be damaged you can have it all if I can have the dizzy?

And I'm up for all the fiberglass parts, wings, bonnet etc... apart from front bumper, the roof, and one of the doors that I think somebody else has claimed before me..

How much money have you invested in the car Waldo?.. Think you might end up breaking even with all the parts people suddenly need :)

Title: Re: 2.2 parts - group buy - Anyone need anything?
Post by: Waldo on June 17, 2008, 01:38:56 pm
Hmm...

I'm not looking to break even, just covering part of the expense so that the parts I needed (trailing arms plus brake & suspension system) was at a fair price...
All parts should be sold at the same fair level I believe.

So far Jesper have bought interior parts (complete door panels and the dash board trim for 200 DKK).
We agreed he could have the roof for another 100 DKK ,I guess maybe I was to nice though  :D

In total I have paid 8000 DKK for the car...

It would be great if I could get 4-5000 back for the remaining parts!

I'm sorry but my plans have changed... I'm going to the Roskilde festival so the 6th is no longer an option.

I hope that's cool with you guys?

Looking for new dates, I guess people would prefer a weekend, correct?

Possible dates are:
22/6 - not to early though!
12/7
13/7

or later... but I would like to get rid of the car asap  ;)

Sorry... 6th is correct!

Good...

I'm ok with both days, which day do you guys prefer?

By the way, I got some real nice 80's stereo equipment for you Anders  :D

Let me know if anyone else would like to join us, this way we could have a little matra meeting, and people would have the change to get a few spare parts...

If the weather is good we could even add a barbecue to the program?

If people like the idea I will send an invitation through the E-mail system on here...

Door interior sides are gone...
I had an inquiry about the steering wheel colum...
The car didn't have the orig. kickpanel speakers. There are some real 80's speakers installed, but it seems like Anders is taking these!

Rear struts (springs)
Side mirrors...
Rear lenses...
The radio and equalizer - real 80's items ;D
Header tank

Hmm... just thought you were after some real 80's items!
Jesper said he was sure you would take the speakers  ;)

You are only after the rh door, correct Anders? (I have an enquiry for the lh door)

I believe it's the equalizer you are referring to, that's real 80's.
It is used to adjust bass/midrange/treble levels on the FOUR mounted speakers.

Whether it works I have no idea, but you are more than welcome to test it  ;D

The person who used to own this beaty really had a love for car stereo...

Hi
I will also be there on 12th to collect the oil pan. I will arraive together with Krede and we will be driving my Rancho.
This tread is so long that I have not checked all the entries, byt I will also be interested in a set of drive shafts and a gear box and maybe a roof (I have a dream of making some sort of targa roof).

See you in Køge.

Hans

Hi Hans,

The arrangement have been moved to the 19th of July.
Krede allready knows about this... I'm sorry if this causes any problems in regards to your planing Hans.

Funny enough Jesper have asked for the roof, for the exact same reason. I also have a plan about making a targa roof, so seems like we are at least 3  :o

Gearbox is going Krede's way...
I would like to have the driveshafts myself, unless you have an urgent need for them?

By the way, I'm in Korsør! (not Køge)

Regards,
Valdemar

Hi
The date suits me fine, and Korsør is super then we do not have to drive acros the island.
I do not "need" the extra parts. They would just be nice to have.

Hi all,

Thanx for holding the roof for me. I want to make a targa conversion in near future.

I am sad that I cannot attend the meeting. The "plaster on the wound" is that I have just been on Laguna Seca  :P :P :P for three days racing school, driving 160 km/h into turn 2 in a formula 2000. (the double turn after the long straight)... the wildest I have ever experienced.

If anybody of you come to the westcoast in the states, don't miss this opportunity... okay it's a bit expensive, but it's ALL WORTH IT!

WOW.. and the corkscrew.. that's a steep one  8)

Best regards from overhere. I will see if I can post pics or movies, when I get home. If someone wants to see ofcourse.

HOPEFULLY NEXT TIME i visit a track, it will be in my murena!  8)

NJesper

Yes, if you could Waldo... I usually take a trip to København every couple of months, so picking it up wouldn't be a problem, besides our company have a store in København airport, so could get it to them, and somebody there would bring it along on their next trip to Norway.

Waldo, you call this a group buy, but reading the messages on this thread it appears you are selling the stuff... we're coming over a few people tomorrow to dismantle the car, and that will great fun - but are we buying the car together and splitting it and the cost, or is it your car and you're the one selling the parts?

Just thought we ought to get this cleared out now.

Cheers,
Anders

Title: Re: 2.2 parts - group buy - Anyone need anything?
Post by: Waldo on July 18, 2008, 12:36:41 pm
Hi Anders,

Well... depends how you would like to work this I guess!

So far I have paid for the car...

I don't think it will be fair to split the cost as I really needed the parts and you guys are just looking for surplus spares.

If I can cover part of my costs, and you can get some parts at a very fair price I will be happy.

Until now I have sold interior parts and the roof to Jesper (300 DKK which was probably a very good price, but he took the parts off himself)
Spare wheel, jack and the windscreen wiper arms to Finn (400 DKK)

If people would like it to run as a group buy the figures so far are:
Car: 4,500
Shipping: 3,700
Parts sold: -700

So I have paid 7,500 for the car as is!

I'd like to Thank Waldo, for a nice afternoon, and the opportunity to salvage a lot of useful parts....I think all who came, left with at least a couple of much needed spares..... and if not, at least everybody got some useful "hands on " experience disassembling a Murena    :)

I'd also like to thank Anders for some nice and very tasty Pizza!  ;D ;D ;D .

I need a complete vacuum headlamp system as the original has been removed from my car. Servo, vacuum tank, non-return valve, emergency raising cable.  I've got the solenoid valve, but I need a cover for it.  I also need a heater water valve and a front bumper rubber.  My car is actually a 1.6, but I think these parts should be the same.  Are you willing to ship to the uk?

You would be far safer with a re-core.  Second hand radiators do not travel very well!

yahh.. or just fork out the cash for a new one..... the cooling system really isn't a place where you want to save..

Anyway.. If I recall correctly, the radiator on Waldos spareparts car didn't look too good.
