Title: Djet Vs
Post by: Henrik P on October 09, 2008, 10:51:00 pm
Hallo

I am the new owner of Erik´s Matra Djet Vs.
I am currently restoring it, and it´s almost done.

It has been given a new paintjob, the engine has been renovated, a new electrical system and a fireextinqeishersystem fitted for racing purpose.

I plan to have its first outing at Jim Clacks Revival or at Zandvoort, after that it will be the Oldtimer GP at Nurburgring and 2009 seasons last race will be the 6-hours meeting at Spa

Hi Henrik, and welcome to the forum. Good to hear from you. I had a chat with Erik at CHGP in August about the car. I'm really glad to hear the good news about the restoration coming through. I'm sure it will attact some attention when you bring it to the track! Is there any chance that we can see you (and the car) in CHGP or other Danish classic races in 2009?

Best wishes,
Anders

Thank you for a very informative site.

I am sorry, but I don´t plan to race it here in Denmark. But you never know, I might change my mind.
I think the car is more suited to longer racetracks.

Great to see you here Henrik, - you have done your beautiful Djet justice with that nice restoration including paintjob. I haven't forgotten the pictures you have sent me, - but bear in mind that you could also open a little blog about your car here (via the blog menu in your profile settings)

It would be fantastic to read about your progress in your own words.

120 hk i sådan en er godt nok flot!
Er det samme motor som de kom i Lotus Europa ?

Gordini knew his stuff. No, Europa was built with the standard Renault 16 pushrod engine. It was chosen to ensure that it would be serviceable around Europe.

The weekend of june 20-21., the MATRA Djet and I will be at Ring Djursland to race in the Classic Car Meeting.
This weekend will be my testing the MATRA Djet before the next race.

My next race, with it, will be in England.
I have been invited to race at Goodwood Revival sept.18-20 with the MATRA Djet. So I will spare the car alittle, only running it on the road, after the Djursland race.

I think this is the first time a MATRA Djet is going to race at Goodwood Revival, does anyone know?

Henrik, congratulations on your Goodwood invitation! I'm sure there will be a few people coming in from the MEC UK to see your car there. I might even consider it myself (though I had thought about going to Silverstone the weekend before to see the year's final Le Mans Series race - but plans aren't settled yet, so...)

I can't make the june 20'th at Djursland, but others here might!

Thanks for sharing!

/Anders

Henrik's wonderful Djet is featured in the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten today!

And the same car was featured in the Danish magazine "Nyt Om Biler" in 2006

more pictures from that photo-session:

Henrik has done a lot to restore the car, and I can't wait to see it in the flesh.
I have only been to two of the revival meetings, but can't recall having seen a Djet racing there, but there has often been one displayed for both the Festival of Speed:

and the French Breakfast Club meetings:

(somebody told me that it is one of the employees at Goodwood who owns that yellow beauty)

I am sorry to have disappointed the MATRA-members, that showed up at the Classsic Car Meeting at Ring Djursland.
The distributor on the Djet gave some problems, and a Ducellier R230 is not standard stock in our local BILTEMA !!

Before this happened I have had a few "testdrives" with the car.
It is a fantastic car. Its very dull up to 4000 rpm, but after that it goes off like a Djet !  And it goes on up to 7-8000 rpm.
The 5 gear is a gem, I do however, have great difficulties to find reverse.
Can anybody help me?

Hi Henrik

Give me a call, I think I can remember  ::)

Saw you were going to Djursland and followed the timing live and wondered what had happened.

I know you wont race in Copenhagen next weekend, but I can inform that one driver Charles Cook (e-type) has also previously owned a D'jet.

Hope to see you there and still looking to go to Goodwood, but currently "between jobs" so we will see.
