Title: Alternative car for electric window regulator?
Post by: macaroni on June 22, 2009, 07:06:01 pm
Can anyone suggest an alternative source for the electric window regulator please?

Need someone to confirm but .....

I heard that the Renault 9/11 were the same (I cannot remember who told me this, so I am not sure if this is correct). Can anyone confirm this?

When I had my first Murena 10 years ago, I picked up one secondhand as a spare and looked to be the same as the Murena ....looked like it would fit with some small mods.

Have seen R9/11 regulators for sale here.

AGAIN - WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO CONFIRM THIS PLEASE!!

£74.03 for new motor, seems a bit expensive to me.

I have read somewhere that someone fit a motor from a regular mercedes. As i remember well, little mods were needed.

Thanks very much for the info.

My garage claimed that the window was slow because the regulator was fraying. Could this be possible?

I saw that thread, but have already tried everything suggested.
The motor is fine, is was new from Matramagic a couple of years ago and spins as hard as the drivers side.
I have cleaned out the runners and lubricated them with talcum powder.
The window goes down slowly, but won't return up without being pulled.
The regulator is my last hope!

At the last meeting someone told me there is a adjustable bolt on the regulator that you can reach with a long screwdriver with the window open somewhere near the mirror.
It pushes the slider on the casing, and it could be to tight making sliding difficult.
I did not verify it yet, but maybe worth looking at.

I have never seen such a bolt on the regulator I have here. I'll check, of course. What would the purpose of the bolt be?

I have no idea, maybe to push the spring in the tooth or something.
Have to check ou for myself to look what he meant, but don't have the car at hand at the moment.

Day before yesterday I rolled down the driver side window all the way, only to discover that it got stuck in that position >:( So yesterday I spent the day fixing the problem. Turned out that the tube, guiding the spiral, had broken off the top of the worm gear housing and jammed. After several failed attempts with glue and plastic padding, I fabricated a bracket that replaced the two metal tabs holding the nylon housing to the frame. The bracket extends above the motor and allowed me to clamp the tube tightly in place. It now works like it should, although a bit slow. :)

Anyway, during this process I saw what Oetker is talking about. At the top end of the motor there is a screw that I suspect is meant to adjust the "end play" of the motor shaft. If tightened too much the motor won't turn freely. Too loose and it may damage the brushes by sliding back and forth. This screw can probably be reached with a long screw driver, if the window is all the way down.

==================================
This made things clear to me.
Because of rust at the other end of the motor, the motor runs bad.
Loosening the bolt wil give some play and that's probably the reason his windows works better as he said.

I tried it some weeks ago, heard it at the same meeting as Oetker.

The crew can be reached in the way you described: window down and a long screwdriver.

I found this on a Danish site for T. Hansen.

There is at manual i several languages eks. English, German and French.

I can se there is a guide for the Matra Baghera so may be it also fits a Murena.

The link are:

and for the manual:

The price is about 135 Euro

The T-Hansen kit is for replacement of the "manual" handle only.
The kit can not be used for repair og the original electric window system.

Does anyone have any news on this front? I'm interested to see if anyone has tried non original mechanisms as a fix?

At the Belgium club a member managed to get a front Ford Escort type VI in.
It had to be shortened and some things needed to be changed for the door opening, but is working.
Not a easy job I think, but maybe a option.

Hi All,

It seems to be possible to mount a 406 electric windows system (bottom of page):

http://www.crazyauto.net/index.php?showtopic=4259

but no details of design and front / rear

PS: the lowering glass is incomplete (missing 1.4 cm)

So windows totally down, it's not invisible.

Hello,

About the ford assembly, is it possible to contact Benny Raes for more details.

If this mod is better that old system, I prefer mount it.

Thank you very much.

I have several ideas, but it is not simple.
The problem is the original parts at the moment.
The plastic on top of the slider break easy and is not a part you can find easy.

I think I found another car where the plastic is used but I am not sure.
It is rear skoda doors (favorit and others)
Not electric but probably same springwinding and plastic hook.
I will order one to find out when I ever find time.
I think it is possible to use partts of it and meke it elektic with motors from sets where you can make handwinder electric. (it is all a gues yet)

Why not, but you will keep the slow system's speed.

Why do not you try to find spares from Renault 9/11?
I bought a pair of power windows from a Renault 9 in very good condition, they only need some cleaning. And you would have spare electric motors too. I think the plastic parts are the same and they have a metal plate as a reinforcement.

Renault 9-11 difficult to find and most of the time also very tired motors and mechanic.

@ Mathieu.
Slow?
If you make electric new thicker wires and new motor it will run like this.

About the ford assembly:

13 mm of window stay visible when it is completely down

3 seconds for down,  3,5 seconds for close.

Somebody have the plastic broken before the motor or the spring inside slide.

I prefer search an recent assembly more stronger and faster.
