Title: Exhaust for Murena 2,2
Post by: KiJa on August 06, 2009, 09:39:18 pm
Does anyone have a exhaust for the Murena 2,2 that they want to sell?

The mostly needed part is the piece in the middle. The one from the manifold and to the silencer. But interested in all parts.

Hi Kim

I have both the U-bend and a twin outlet exhaust for sale. Both used, but in very good quality stainless steel. I have replaced them with a less noisy single outlet exhaust. I'll take a couple of photos of them tomorrow. They are a bit stained, but can be polished.

Thanks Anderes

I have at the moment a singel outlet silencer, and my system is a bit noisy because of some crancks at the middle piece. The one that is attached to the manifold, is that the one you called the u-bend?

Does the twin outlet fit the car without modifications?

Looking forward to the pictures :)

Yes, the twin outlet fits without modifications. It sits somewhat low under the car, but nothing that compromises ride height. As you can see from the photos, the right hand outlet has a slight bump from hitting the tow hook under the car. The ideal solution is of course to make a cut out in the rear bumper glass fibre and move (or remove) the tow hook, but it is not necessary as you will see from the photos of my car.

The black stuff is road dirt and engine oil, it should be straight forward to remove. The muffler also has a small area of thin red paint from a respray. Finally, there's some surface rust in one place. The steel is very good quality stainless, so it can be polished off using a rotating 3M pad and a fine hand pad (or just a "grydesvamp") for the final finish. The U-bend has some scranches from manufacturing which can't be removed.

There are more photos here:

I'm asking 1200 kr for the lot :)

Hi Anders

My major problem is the piece from the manifold and to the silencer, i don't know what it is called in english, but the "vorderrohr part. nr. 05015" se attachment.

Do you have that part also, and not nessesary in stainless steel.

No, unfortunately not - my manifold is a 4-in-1 stainless manifold. The original cast iron manifolds have a tendency to crack, so if you can afford it, a 4-in-1 is a good investment as it lasts a lifetime!

The pipe you are looking for is called a "downpipe" in English :)

Hi Anders

The nuber one on my list is the "downpipe". I will se if i can find a 4 to 1 as you tell (i think i have seen one at Matramagic).  My silincer is in fair condition, so untill i have fixed the other parts, i will wait with the silencer.

In first i would like to see/hear how much noise the car will produce when my one pipe system is in perferct condition, as it is now, you can't talk with at speed over 110 km/t. (I have install a MC-intercom FOR THE SAME REASON  ;D)

But thanks for a very fair offer, and perhaps i return, when i have fixed the other parts, as it is my intentention to get at complete stainless exhaust system.

A Murena isn't meant for chatting in! You should shut up and DRIVE it, and your passengers will be busy holding their breath! ;D

Only joking... it sounds like your manifold could be the problem. I don't know how the original system is designed, i.e. whether you can seperate the down pipe from the u-bend, so you may run into problems if you try to mate a 4-in-1 stainless manifold to a standard exhaust.

I realised I put the wrong link to the photos below - it has been corrected now, and here it is:
http://gallery.dinsen.net/v/biler/Matra/technical/exhaust/twinoutlet/

Let me know if you're interested. Until then the set (u-bend and exhaust) remains for sale. Price is 1200 DKK or 160 EUR. I can ship it, but I imagine it will be expensive. It's located in the Copenhagen area.

Hi Anders

Sorry that im first reply you now, but haven't seen your last inaly.

I have bought a used but fine manifold from Waldo, and a new downpipe from Simons. As i wrote, the silencer is ok. Now with new washer it sounds like the Murena was build to do GREAT  ;D

It is still a bit noisy but now with the right sound.

So thank you for you offer on the silencer, but untill further i will pass.
