Title: Prescott Hill Climb 2010
Post by: Titus on May 30, 2010, 10:47:45 pm
Another 'La Vie en Bleu' this year at The Bugatti Club's Prescott Hill Climb event and what a great one. For the second year running our very own Andy Owler and Graham Pryme treated us to the spectical of them competing their Matras. I'll let them add comments to the below clips but just to say well done both. You made our weekend.

Excellent videos Titus.  Andy, you can definitely see the vapour trail behind your car in the first one.

A couple of shots of our intrepid competitors. (http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy80/suffolkpete/La%20Vie%20en%20Bleu%202010/IMG_0286.jpg)
Always give clear signals when on the track  ;)   Notice the mirrors folded in for better aerodynamics :)

Went a little too wide at Pardon Hairpin.  The resulting collision with the barrier bent the drag link.  Looked easy fixable though.(http://i779.photobucket.com/albums/yy80/suffolkpete/La%20Vie%20en%20Bleu%202010/Toowide.jpg)

I though that somebody was hurt because of Ambulance car there...

Graham spun and shunted the barrier backwards.  They always send the ambulance out as a precaution, but he's fine, you can see him in the white helmet standing in front of the ambulance.  He drove the car away afterwards.  I blame the  person who walked the course with him the night before  :) :) :)

Very cheeky Mr.Challoner :) Of course all my 'expertise' was gained from the 1.6 and not taking into account our Prescott Meisters 2.2 special leaded foot! Nice result though. Graham made the crowd stand up and notice the Murena :o

Yes, I see what you mean!

The Shorrock blower has a constant oil feed for lubrication. When the engine is running hard the oil is burnt but on light throttle or trailing throttle it comes out as smoke!

It let's my competitors think the engine is going to blow up! Makes them over confident and spin!

Brilliant pics from Titus and others!

It had me fooled  :)  Perhaps I've been listening too much to Mick Ward's prophesies of doom about the fragility of the 1600cc engine!  It's a type of gamesmanship I hadn't thought of.  Do you think it would have an application in Formula 1?  A huge cloud of smoke followed by an unexpected burst of power?  My local team, Lotus, ought to try it, they haven't been doing too well lately.  ;D

Well. I'm still cheering for them!

As well as chering for my local Woking team, that is.
