Title: Fuel filler door locked (Solved)
Post by: Sommerby on January 11, 2011, 04:18:14 pm
My Espace (JE) are really testing my patience theese days.  :(

The latest issue is a Fuel filler door which can not be open. I have tried to exercise the central locking system but with no succes.

Do anybody know if there is a emergency release wire for the opening. And in such case where is this wire located?

Best Regards
Bo

well as it happens I have just read about this on another forum.
the cause is lack of lubricant or dirt ingress into the lock actuator.
the solution is to spray it with WD-40, if you manage to get it open again.

otherwise, up in the wheel arch, behind the plastic wheel arch cover there is access to the actuator.
pull the manual overide carefully but forcefully rearward.

mine got stuck back in 2006, I sprayed it with silicone spray and it's been ok ever since.

Many thanks guys.  Just what I needed to know.

I uninstalled the lock, dismantled it and lubricated it. Reinstalled it and it's now working perfectly again.

Piece of cake. Took approx 20 minutes. I need to lift the car in order to reach the lock inside the rear wing, but I did not had to remove the wheel.

Best Regards
