Title: Espace v6 2000 mk3 3l radiator
Post by: dragonzuiko on March 16, 2011, 09:22:54 am
Why do these cars like taking money from your wallet  ???

I have a small leak coming from the side of my radiator, looks like its coming from the top and i think its been there a while.

Has any body tried a rad seal product and found it to do the job ? i do have wynns rad seal but it says dont put it in the expansion bottle, so thats out. i dont want to put anything in the coolant just in case in seals the wrong thing.

thanks Peter

This car needs an efficient cooling system - because both the engine and the gearbox depends on its effectiveness.
I tend to worry more about the gearbox than the engine since it's seems to be less well protected and overheating will definitely kill it.
So I would definitely fit a new radiator. I know it's a pain to change, but they're not that expensive - at least not as long as you don't try to buy from Renault ;)

Because its 11 years old now, and any car needs fixing at this age - especially depending of mileage, use and pre maintainance history. And alloy radiators corrode both from the outside and from the inside if cooland is wrong type or not replaced with correct type.

As Anders say, the radiator is not expencive if you source one outside the Renault network. Find a Nissens radiator and it will be good for the rest of its life.

It is supposed to drop down as a complete assy with ac condenser. But thats not nessesary.
Just take off the side indicators, the grille, both headlights - then remove the bumper and the complete steel chassis in the front (surrounding headlights etc). This together gives good space for replacing the radiator from the top without removing the ac condenser as that means a refill of ac fluid.
I think i did it in 2-3 hours complete, but cannot remember 100%.

I have some pictures of it here: http://www.servicehefte.net/servdata/?pid=czqkk-qqqX
