Title: Keep your fingers crossed for me, please
Post by: Anders Dinsen on September 20, 2006, 09:18:43 am
I'm going to the "registreringssyn" (a MoT needed to import a car here in Denmark) today for the second time. Last time my Murena failed because of the rusty headlamps, an unfortunate oil spill having developed from the rocker cover gasket, plus missing documentation for the acceptible noise level.

Today I hope to have it passed. Only big joker is whether it will be too noisy? I think not, so it should work out just fine.

But keep your fingers crossed, please!

If it passes I will have it on the road today or tomorrow.

I expect to be around the same... that's where they all are it seems. Mine doesn't look that good though (a crack in the front bumper and different tones on the panels) so maybe it will be a bit less? I'll keep you posted!

Best of luck Anders, you really want this and deserve it.

Let us know how it goes.

Mine is in the garage today having a few things sorted out, I'm very nervous too!

DID IT!

Passed the test. Noise measurements showed 90 dB, but he clearly did not know how to operate the equipment as that was pretty close to the car... anyway that's now what it is approved for. Headlights need to be turned upwards 0,5%, but nothing noted in the papers... i.e. clean approval.

Then rushed to Taastrup to have the tax set - 20.265,- DKK. It took only 10 minutes perhaps! No queue! Then I went off to Ballerup to my bank as the tax people would only accept a bank cheque or cash - they made me a cheque. I went back to Taastrup then, paid the tax and rushed off to Rødovre where the Motorkontor (number plate people) is. They close at 2pm, and I arrived 1:20 - again no queue!! and at 1:35 I was out of there with my new number plates!!!!!!!

YJ 45 904 - not the prettiest number, but it's mine!!!

Well, 45 is the danish national dial code, and the Porsche 904 is one of the prettiest cars that company has ever made.

and anybody seeing your car will go "YJ  YJ  YJ   wtf is THAT ?!" :-)

Today's best comment (on a Shell petrol station): "What car is that? It looks like a Ferrari!"

Anyway, here's Troels, the Murena and me 8):

Nice picture. Do we all have red Murenas around here?

Apart from the guy who hit me and gave an excuse of admiring the car, I had a bloke in a Nissan 300ZX pull alongside me and give me the thumbs up. I get almost as many waves as I do when driving the Multipla!!

I did try to get in the danish matraclub a couple of times this spring - but no responses from the chairman :-(
I go to the head campus in near future, so invitation accepted !

Congrats with the passing of the mot Anders ....
The tax on mine is also set to around 22000 dkr...a little more then yours, but then again.. i also had "tuned engine" noted as special equipment.... so it is registred as having 150 hp and not 116..... it will make a difference if i ever get around to do that turbo conversion im thinking of  8)

As for a meeting of red murenas, Im pretty sure i will be travelling to Sjælland the 10-12 november... so perhaps we can arrange a quick drive by :-)

Hej Henrik.

Sounds like a good idea, if anyone is passing through Tunbridge Wells in Kent, I will come out and say hi!

does that count for non-red Matra's too - or is this a secret gathering of the code-red fraction of the Matra community ?  :-)

both of you were mailed the paperwork same day as you contacted Lars, so
possibly the postoffice just had a bunfire or something.  :-)
New papers are in the mail.

OK, we will see what the postman brings next week.

"code red" fraction - sounds as a good oppertunity, but as I seriously consider getting my car repainted (not red) - I automatic shut myself out :-)

I consider having my car painted too
White, some kinda of metallic... or even Titane like Lennards would be very nice (even though we all know that "red ones go faster")
However its not as straight forward as it sounds as it appearantly arn't all painters who want to undertake painting a fiberglass car..

I had to tell my wife I'm going through a mid-life-crisis - otherwise she would not approve the Murena. And since she can understand that a frustrated 40-year old (I'm not yet, but still) needs a RED SPORTSCAR, I just have to leave mine in the original colour  ;D

White metallic could be good looking. I also have that in mind.
Maybe we can get a common offer - paint must be much cheaper when mass fabricated :-)

Anders: For me it was much more complicated - I divorced with my wife - and *then* bought a Murena.

(BTW, a good exchange)  ;D ;D ;D

The original Titane metallic is *very* nice.

My car was originally Titane, but after a minor frontal damage (previous owner) it was resprayed grey-metallic, which looks nothing LIKE the original. When I parked my car next to a "real" Titane metallic, my car looked incredibly dirty and dull:
http://www.matrasport.dk/Gallery1/Events/Med/uk03_02a.html
My car is second "silver" from left. The one at the far left is Roy Gillard's Titane silver car, which has always made me envious - it's gorgeous:)

I put that right i 1999, so it is now again Titane - almost white metallic, with large metallic grains.

NB - with so much light and intensity in the paint, you really need the sills to be black - to lower the appearance of the car. WEll, thats at least my opinion.

On the darker colours, it works fine with coloured sills, - and even the wide sills are fine.

(even though we all know that "red ones go faster")
Redheads are generally hysteric, as we all know. :-}

and last time I was on a track with my car against a red Murena, my Titane bullet appeared somewhat  quicker.

No Anders, we don't want all you very good excuses :-)
