Title: Reset of error message on display?
Post by: Sommerby on July 09, 2012, 07:50:43 pm
Yesterday my 2.2 DCI JE  went into limp mode after a carwash.  I got the "sinus curve " symbol followed by a "Service" message.  When I had limped back to my home, I tried to disconnect the battery for some time, but this did not help.  The next day the car was driving perfectly again. No limp mode, but every time I start the car, I get the "OK" message and after approc 5 seconds I get the much feared Beeeeeep followed by the "sinus curve" symbol and the "Service" message. After approx 20 seconds the "Service" message disapears and everything looks normal.
I know that it is not the EGR valve or the Air intake flow meter causing the error message since they have been disconnected for the last 150.000 km.
Since the car is not in limp mode anymore, I believe that the error message just need a reset and this leads to the question:  Is there a way to reset error messages without having to connect to a PC interface?

Best Regards
Bo

No, unfortunately there's no other way to do it.

I bought myself one of these a couple of years ago. It works fine on the Espace for reading fault codes (and resetting them), though it doesn't handle the autobox, and it doesn't do any real time data.

Good luck, Bo

Like Anders says the Maxidiag is one of few tools to see the fault codes. You can flash any of the maxidiag models to read the Renault with files from the manufactures web site. So if there is another model going cheap then it is worth it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/maxidiag-/320948203968?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4aba00f1c0
Otherwisw put the money to a renault clip interface which will give you live data. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/maxidiag-/320948203968?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4aba00f1c0

the links are just examples, i have not bought from these traders. I do have both & the both serve a purpose. The clip is not genuine it is a russian clone i'm told. You will need a small software file to run on any non approved laptop & a crack so it does not attempt to register itself with spx. Let me know if you go this route.
