Title: Alternative sidemirrors
Post by: RazorbackNOR on June 25, 2013, 04:38:16 pm
Is there any news on these? My driverside(left) is completly broken, and I have seen that one of you had a set from Carjoy or something that I feel would be a nicer look on the Murena then the larger original ones. Or other that might fit without to much hassle.

I have seen these fitted on a Murena in the U.K. They are a nice smaller variation on the originals.
A bit of engineering required obviously, but at this price well worth the effort:-

NB: This price is for a pair!

You could see if you can find the Lancia/FSO mirrors I found.

Mange takk for mailen Kai, skal tenke på det.

Thanks for the replies guys, these are qiute close to the original ones, I was thinking more along the lines of a different mirror altogether. Kai(northmurena was obviously thinking along the same lines as I, thou his would not fit his broadened Murena. Any ideas?

Kind of something like this.

These mirror were also my inspiration when i thought about some different than the original. The last time i saw them "live" was in the 80īs and the one i saw were from poor quality, the glasses were too small ( i.m.h.o.) and they were only to adjust from the outside. Thatīs why i thought about making some in similar - more sporty - style, but with bigger glases and - of course - electrical, so you donīt need to climb several times over the seats after driver-changing ;-)

But like ypu can see on the photo: i need the distance of the mirrors to the door if i donīt want to look only in my air-inlet. So i had to give up with this idea :-(

I remember Car-joy sold this mirrors in the past and were also fitted on  the Perestroika.
I think they are Fiat. (not sure)

My mirrors are several times molested by vandals.

Because of that I fitted very cheap mirrors from a M3 on my 1600.
They don't look that bad.

In 2007 I had a test-drive in a Murena with this mirrors.
They do a bad job concerning sight.
If you have this mirrors driving is by hearing. ;)

They certainly look like the ones fitted to the Perestrojka. Can anybody confrim that the mountingbracket of the Fiat is close to the Murenas?

Dette er min Murena! Det skall bli en Norsk bil hvem vi skall flyte till Norge.... ;)

This mirrors (on my car) are indeed Carjoy mirrors. They produced a series of these when they were thinking of tuning=-parts etc. instead of trying to keep the cars original. I beleive they all have been sold by now.

The mirrors are very simple. Just a simple polyesther housing and a mirror fitted on a ball-joint. View is acceptable, but not great. Especially when you might have fitted a ferrari-style rear-bonnet it will be a pain the switch lanes at times.

However, I do really love the look of these mirrors. Looks to fit the shape of the car far better then M3 mirrors which can also be seen quite often on a Murena.

Cheers,

Martijn

...have just played a little bit....made a raw-draft of a different side-mirror to carry a bigger glass than the Kiefer/Carjoy ones
