Title: 2.2 dci engine
Post by: ross on June 20, 2014, 01:50:27 pm
Hi, I have amassed a collection of broken 2.2 Dci engines which I am gradually taking apart to salvage what is good and in the hope I can make at least one good engine from all the bits.
To put the engines back together I will need a complete set of engine gaskets, head bolts, big end and main bearings and piston rings. Does anyone know the best source for these items, other than Renault direct ?
When you run an Espace with the 2.2 Dci it is always good to have a spare engine to call on !
All suggestions welcome. Regards to all fellow sufferers. Ross

Renault should make the bits, I've got a spare rocker cover gasket I never used, but to be on the safe side, also replace the rocker cover, DO NOT USE A USED ONE! They distort, crack and leak oil everywhere. Most bits should be available on eBay but IMHO, you don't need a spare engine, just remove the EGR valve as you may find that causes more problems than its worth.
Also, just of interest, you could also look at Vauxhall stuff, some of the Vauxhall vans (or Opel - I forgot what models they are) are identical to the Renault Master.
Now, if anyone has thought about sourcing a 2.5 DCi engine and shoving that into an Espace, that would be an interesting one.
