Sounds like you have a problem with your card reader or card. The only way to remove the bolt is to smash it off with a big hammer & chisel. To remove one from a scrap car it has to be activated with the card. To remove one from a scrap car it has to be activated with the card. Actually the box that is the electronic steering lock on these is held on by a left hand threaded bolt with a shear off head. I have taken these off before with a small pin punch and hammer to rotate the bolt until it is loose and then wound it out, so you don't necessarily have to smash it off with a hammer and chisel. However once a steering lock is coded to a particular chassis number/car it cannot be re-coded to another vehicle. (at least they never could when I worked at Renault UK - have they changed?) so if your lock fails you will have to buy a new (blank) one and have it coded to your car. Roy |
