Title: Swirl pot Espace JE0G V6 24v - similar to one used in Renault 5 GT Turbo?
Post by: Anders Dinsen on June 26, 2016, 08:29:46 pm
Today, I finally found a water leak which has been annoying me for some time. It appears the swirl pot is leaking. It's the black thing in the picture below, which is also showing water on top of the gearbox and a soaked foam pad on top of the water-to-oil-cooler for the gearbox.

But: It carries a Matra number and is unique to the 24v, so I fear that it will be out of stock :(

Googling around, I've found that it appears identical to the one used in the good old Renault 5 GT Turbo and is available in polished aluminum. I wonder if anyone can confirm that?

It turned out the part is still readily available. I think I was mistaken about the part number. 77's are probably Renault numbers, so I assume it is used in other cars too.

The first of the photos below show the two very small cracks in the old pot. The next one shows the old one with hoses attached. Then the new one, and finally the installed swirl pot.

She now has a water and airtight cooling system again :)

7xxx are Renault numbers, part numbers starting with 6xxx are Matra parts
Assume this one is also used in other models running the L7X engine... ?
