Title: 1.6L specifications please
Post by: Natron037 on January 10, 2007, 06:08:29 pm
Hello everyone.  I am trying to find out some specifications for the 1.6L engine.  If someone has a service manual and can provide me with some specifications I'd appreciate it.  I am in the USA and the 1.6L was offered for a breif time in the horizon here so I am going to mix and match parts (hopefully) to make a large displacement engine for my Simca 1000.  Unfortunately the factory service manual I recieved for the horizon has very little technical specs. for the 1.6L.  If you can fill any of these specs. out and send it to me I'd appreciate it!  What I am looking for is the following:

Cylinder head combustion chamber CC's -
Piston dish CC's -                  (compression ratio) -
Connecting Rod length (center to center) -
Block deck height (mm) -
Intake valve head dia (mm) -
Exhaust valve head dia (mm) -
Cam shaft journal dia (mm) front -       middle -      rear -
Camshaft specifications (factory) intake Lift (mm) -              duration (deg) -
                                                     exhaust lift -                     duration -
engine mounting angle in car (deg) -

I am also looking for a source for bolts - main caps, cylinder head and connecting rod bolts.
Thank you!
Nathan

Hello Nathan,

as I have a 1442-engine in my 1200s coupe, I think I do have most of the infos you need...
First, I think you are aware of the fact that the rear-mounted engines are turning counter-clockwise and you can only use the block of the 1442 and 1592 engines without the oilpump, ignition and the camshaft....

Here some data of the 1592 model 6J2 with 90 hp-DIN:

Compression ratio: 9,35:1 with 1,2mm head gasket
rod length as 1442 = 124 mm the block itself is 14,75 mm higher than the 1294 ccm !!!
valves are as 1442 = 34,5 x 27 mm with 9mm lift at the valve - use the long pushrods !
camshaft bearings (1)=35,5 mm (2)=41mm (3)=41,5 mm use cam of Rallye 2 /3 as FWD-engine runs clockwise...
Engine angle is 41° but you will have to use the oilsump and pickup of a Rallye 1/2/3 or 1200 S...

Bolts are not really critical, you may re-use the old ones - it is a SIMCA-engine !!!
Should you need more infos, give me a feedback....

Regards from Germany
Hardy

Spares for the 1.6 murena/simca engine are still plentyfull in Europe, as the engine was videly used in other talbot vehicles.. should just be a matter of getting someone who will ship across the lake :)
