Title: Klonk!
Post by: krede on February 19, 2007, 09:34:19 pm
I have noticed a "klonk" kind of sound when ever my murena is exposed to a sudden acceleration.. have any experienced simmilar noices?
I sustect one of 3 things to be at fault :
1) the upper engine damper bushes are worn
2) the exaust has to little movement to "flex"
3) worn driveshafts (cv joints)

or perhaps a mix of all of the above!!  :o

Well, If you have ever done any "offroading" in your Murena (like the previous owner of mine) the lower right engine mount might be broken. This caused some serious engine movement. However I think I might be the only one to ever experience such a problem. (Was fixed quite easely by welding, drilling and tapping new holes in the engine sump.

So, simmilar noices, probably not same cause.

My bet is the exhaust, check the rubber bushings wich it hangs on.

best regards
Lars Olav

It could also be as simple as the rubber bushes for the anti roll bar allowing a bit of movement...

Hi Krede
The solution to all the three possible problems could be to use the accelerator more carefull ;)

But based on my own expirience I will suspect the uppe engine support.

It's the bolt in the top engine stabiliser mount  which attaches the the stabiliser to the rear bulkhead, I'll bet  ;)  The mounting hole in the bulkhead could be slightly oval, but tighten it up good and it should be OK.

Don't know if it will comfort you... mine is worse. It's buried under 50 cm of snow at the front! :(
I'll remove as much as I can tonight before it starts melting.
Horrible weather, it is!

It looks like the aerodynamics work well even when she's standing still!  I do miss her...

There's a few idiots in the UK (myself included) who would love a week or so of weather like that.... but not, I guess a whole season....

I find comfort in knowing that it had a healthy dose of rustproofing last week.. before any snow or salty roads...
So much so, that when i turned on the popup lights nothing much happened...
I went out to see why the lights didnt come on... to find that the car had been sprayed with the headlights DOWN.. and thus.. the glass was completely covered in brown stickey goo!!!!
Annoying....well yes......but I have to give them an "A" for effort  ;D

Well with the winter tyres she's fitted with now, it would be fun to get her on the road. Unfortunately there's quite a bit of digging needed to get her out of there. This was how it looked Wednesday evening:
