Title: After-market source of Valeo wipers in the UK
Post by: Martin Tyas on June 21, 2007, 12:50:47 pm
Having earlier in the year paid £23.97 to a Renault dealer for a "genuine" Renault rear wiper blade (made by Valeo) and last year over £36 for the drivers side front wiper for my 2002 Espace, I'd been looking for an aftermarket supplier of model-specific Valeo wipers which include the washer nozzles.... Euro Car Parts haven't had stock all year but I finally found an alternative.

I've just ordered a twin pack of front wipers (driver & passenger side) at £29.99 and a rear wiper at £8.99.... that's almost a third of the price of the same thing from Renault and includes VAT and free delivery to your door (within the UK)

In case anyone else in the UK (although they will ship to other countries at extra cost) is interested the web address is
www.speeding.co.uk

The product number for the twin pack of front wipers for a JE is VM202.
Be careful with the rear wiper because their web site has a 14 inch wiper listed for the Espace but mine ("The Race" with opening rear window) is actually fitted with a 16 inch wiper... the product code for which is VM3.
So, I would suggest anyone should first check the size fitted to their vehicle before ordering using only the web site information. Although as part of the order process they do ask for make, model and year of your car so they can check that you've ordered the right ones.
They supply the full range of Bosch and Valeo wipers so you should get what you need.

Thanks for that Martin! My wipers are on the last leg, and I've been toying with the idea of only replacing the actual wiper blade, but the jets are a bit screwed too, so I'd really need a new set of jets too. This tip is greatly appreciated! :)

GSF car parts do replacement wipers ( SWF ) which is a Valeo service company.

GSF No.           Part No.               Description/Size               MRP.            Nett.

 R93931        6025-372-452          Wiper RH/  26"               £ 26.77        £ 7.50
 R93930        6025-372-451          Wiper LH/  18"               £ 19.85        £ 8.75
                                                                                            + VAT          £  2.84
                                                                                            Total =        £ 19.09
These are a direct replacement for the original wipers, fitted with the jets on the blade/wipers as the originals along with a short length of replacement tubing in case you have to cut the original pipe.

Happy shopping

Bob

German, Swedish & French Car Parts   http://www.gsfcarparts.com/

Thanks Bob.... I'll know where to go next time.... whenever I've looked on GSF before they'd had very few parts for the Espace but even better if they are now listing a few as they have just opened a small branch in my home town.
Strange how the 26" drivers side wiper is cheaper than the 18" passenger side!!!
By the way the wipers I got from Speedings also had a small piece of replacement pipe as did one I previously got from Renault.

Thanks!! :)

Could the price difference have something to do with that we're driving on the 'wrong side' in UK..?

My girlfriend popped into the Daventry shop and got a set of front wipers for £20.56, they didn't stock the rear wiper. Excellent result! :) Thanks for the tips!  8) 8)

No.  Its to do with volume of sales and often happens with parts.  The drivers wiper gets replaced more and so the volume is higher, which leads to lower unit costs.

Often you get a left hand and right hand side part that are identical except for the reversed design (such as the door mirror) and you might expect them to be the same price.  However, there is more call for the driver side one (owing to accident damage) and so the RH side unit volume being higher leads to lower unit costs and is cheaper than the LH one.

The reason the small piece of tubing is included is that there was a change in the design and if you are changing from the early one to the later type, you need the additional tubing otherwise the original tube will not reach.
