Title: Front bumper, w/Wo RubberLine
Post by: hru on August 14, 2007, 08:57:12 pm
Hi all

I will have my car repainted this winter, but before I need to do some work on the front bumper. It has an old damage which could be easiest fixed by just buyng another front bumper.

I like the looks of the Murena without the rubberline on top of the front bumper.
Politecnic has one custom  - does anybody know if this is modified so the rubber line is not needed - or do I have use plastic padding like all others ?

I'd like to have your rubber and the metal fitting below it then  :)

No, I don't know the answer to your question. I think, however, that the front bumper is quite easily smoothed out using any glass fiber repair kit, so traces of the front rubber mounting aren't visisble any more.

... after browsing the forum, I came across Brinkies post about his crash and a photo of the rubberless front bumper. I think this answers your question:

The rubber had to be fitted afterwards, otherwise it left a space between bonnet and bumper:

My car was eventually finished with rubber:

(Sorry for the bad pics, it was even for those days a cheap digital camera with a whopping 1 Megapixel)

Nope :-) I would still need that..........

I was more thinking like this - without rubberline on top of front bumper.
Is it a Politecnic or home made - that is the question

The restoration preparation has been done by Carjoy, the paintjob was done by "Classic Car and Bodyshop" in Schelluinen, The Netherlands. (don't try to pronounce that village name ;))

After 5 years (and keeping the car garaged most of the time!) the paint still looks great. I only have to work on the rubber and plastic parts with black shine.
