Title: Centre Console Removal
Post by: TonyG on September 14, 2007, 10:40:24 am
Hi all. Does any one know how to remove the centre console as the original one has been damaged, I have a replacement so is it a straight swat or is it a dash out job?  :) 8)

I'm afraid it's a dash-out-job. The console is attached to the side parts of the dash and to get it all in afterwards, you really need to get it all apart.

What year is your car?

Oh well, I'm not sure my description works then. I thought it was a phase 1 dash which is the one I have worked on. I know Roy recently did a lot of work on a J63 dash, so he might know.

For a second generation Espace (J63x) you need to strip the complete dashboard I'm afraid, similar to the first generation (J11x) which was the one I did recently.  You will have to remove the steering wheel, column surround covers, instrument panel cowling and panel, side trims, glove box, fuse module, and the complete dash.  It is not especially difficult, but there is a lot of work and you need to take things slowly if you have not done it before, so you don't break anything.
