Originaly I input this scan into the Djet section in context of some article about Matra Djet (of course that it don't mind), so I didn't translated it. If You want, I will make it but give some time please, because in few mnts I must leave to visit my parents, so maybe at afternoon it will be done.

Cheers Michal, that's a big ask, but a general summary would be nice.

Cheers and a Happy New Year.

I tried to translate it, but please excuse me for mistakes  ;) Originaly this article was translated from English original - the author is Richard Bremner. There are something which I don't agree with, but here it is:

Heroes of the past - Talbot Matra Murena
scarcer more than Ferrari and funnier than Lamborghini

Matra Murena was French sports car with middle engine, whose seat schema was inspirated by designer's taste in sexual fantasies characteristic for pubescentes. It had three seats side-by-side. Two for passengers was a bit narrower than driver's seat, so that you can only hardly resist to temptation to imagine two bronze tanned young French girls. It was that kind of car, which you can imagine in movies from sixties and seventies, even if Murena came later, in the year 1980. But her predecessor , Matra - Simca Bagheera from the year 1973, coincided exactly into this era.
Bagheera and Murena shared driving mechanism from Simca. Placing the engine in the middle changed very much the character of not very exciting hatchback Simca 1100. Both cars had the steel carrier construction with composite and glass fibre panels, what was very dare action at that time. The most important difference was that Bagheera's steel cross-beams was dilapidating by nearly supersonic speed. The corrosion assaulted everything around plastic parts of the carroserie faster than next periodic technical controle came. But then Murena had galvanized chassis, so that on the second attempt there was abnormaly reliable sports car. With her predecessor, Murena had too little things shared. Rear axle got McPherson struts and also you could buy engine 2,2 from Talbot Tagora. She was catchier than Bagheera and her aerodynamic coeficient was 0,32 what in fact was very very good value. In spite of wedge-shaped profile, Murena had to carry lot of redundant kilograms. First of all, it was guilt of massive, but very heavy steel cross-beams and weigh of cast-iron engine block.
As the reason, there was only average performances, produced by 1,6 95PS (90PS we know)  and only pleasant acceleration from the 2,2 engine with 120PS. Murena also was a bit expensive and moreover, she came in time, when first hothatches started their succes. Golf or 205 GTi could ride better (pche, 2,2S will have both this cars for a dinner)  and didn't carry redundant kilograms similary as VW Scirocco.
That was the reason why Murena wasn't imported into the Great Britain. So we were deplented of her sexy look, attractive cockpit and impressive splendid steering control, apart from old steering wheels with flat lower part.
To find a Murena for sale is a very difficult job, except of one 1,6 which needs complete renovation. I wolud preffer 2,2 engine, what means searching in France. But Cote d'Azur, where I've found one with 150 thousands on its tachometer, is too far away for my taste.

In black rim with yellow CHCETE JI? there is:
Do You want her?
Reasons why want her:
is rare, attractive, excellent grip and you can drive with two friends

Reasons why run thousand miles away:
dashboard is breaking down into pieces (I absolutely couldn't agree, especialy Murena's dash is very robust) and find spare parts will be harder than find those two tanned French girls (well if this is true, my house will be full of tanned French girls  ;D )

UUUUUfffffffffffffff just for you matraciens  ;)

Well done... thanks, Michal.

Though it's misinforming, it's always nice to see the Murena get some coverage. And I like the subtitle :D

Happy new year!

I disagree on one point...

a 205 1.9 gti would run circles around a Murena.
Its almost exactly 200kg lighter, and the engine, brakes and handling is better.
Most importantly.... .. the 205 is a much easier car to "drive fast"... as it won't bite your head off if you push it over the limit.......A murena will !!

But apart from that, you are spot on...
The dashboard is in no way worse then any other early 80''ies car...

And i will trade you one of my spare cylinerheads for a couple of those tanned French girls, If you need to get rid of them  ;D

We are speaking about first (1984) 205GTi with 105PS and 135Nm. It means 123PS/1000kg, top 193km/h, 0-400m 16,6sec and 0-100km/h 8,6sec against Murena 2,2S with 144PS, 191Nm = 135PS/1000kg, 205km/h, 400m in 15,6sec and 0-100km/h 8,4sec.
P205 GTi is more friendly to young inexperienced drivers, that's true.
