Title: Electric window switches
Post by: davidewanprice on January 17, 2008, 08:19:48 pm
I was wondering if anyone knew if the switches for the Murena's windows were found on any other car, also i was wanting to know if the ones from many nearer french motors were similar, e.g. ones from ealy saxo/zx's etc, as they look the same fit but look like they will light up unlike the murena's which i find the pain rubs off.... many thanks, David

Yes, I've found them on Citroen BX. Don't know the year, but I demounted them from one wreck, which had front + rear powered windows. And of course, Simca 1308GT, Talbot Solara and 1510 - they are the same.

Go to your nearest motor factor and you should find them in a blister pack for £3-£4.  Mine had a red cardboard backing to the pack.

??? But they are NOT the same, there is a different symbol. Originally there are two wide arrows, but here it is like on VW or something like this  :(

size is ok, but if you want to keep things original then go for the expecive ones.
I ordered the ones with light so I can see what I do in the night.
I think it wil be a improvement.
In my case safety goes for original.

From my point of view, nothing is more than the original condition. Only original condition has real vault against all improvements. But much people means much oppinions  ;)

;) if there are my Spax shocks on Your mind, be sure that they were on the car when I bought it and because they have 92 - 98% I'm not going to spend money for new (of course, original) ones.

They fit ride away without any changes.

It is a improvement and for €10 for 4 pieces very cheap and looks better then the originals.

I don't have a partnumber, but this seller sometimes has them on sale for around 3 GBP a pair.

I think Range Rover parts are more easy to source then the Murena.

Thats ok,  my frence is bad, so I can't do it there.
I discus my findings on the Dutch/Belgium forum, and post my results here for international knowledge, because I can't expect people to understand dutch.

Maybe this is of interest to.
The windowplate for the inner mirror is almost simulair to that of a peugeot 205.
You only have to rasp a little of.
They look nice in the Murena.

The old one, as usual broken.

The new one out a 205 next to the old one.

Very little work to make it fit.

Looks nice, but there are more possibillitys.
Just wanted to show it.

Hi Herman,

What is it below the mirror on the dashboard?

Hi Herman,

What is it below the mirror on the dashboard?

It is part of a old Bosch alarm, wich was common in the 80s.
It sends a high frequent sound trough a small speaker, and receveive it back.
If nothing happens in the interior it is in balance.
If something moves it activate tha alarm.

I bought a set from a danish Land Rover dealer in Jutland. They are not quite as large in diameter for the bellows, but the ends are the same.
You can find them here:

I will find them and post a picture.

I just updated my post above with a photo of the alternative grommets that I got from the Danish Land Rover dealer. He could no longer get the ones you gave the part number for.

Have you tried them on the Murena yet?

They are really not that much longer. But as you can see, one end fits at a right angle to the hole. I would set that end in the door and the straight end in the frame. This will let the grommet twist, rather than flex lenghtwise. I have a feeling this lasts longer than the original, as the two holes are not exactly opposite.

Interestingly enough, the original Murena grommet has an extension on the end that fits the frame. This extension goes through the frame and fits the inside opening, where Oetker used a round, simple plate grommet.

What are sequential windows?

I don't know, but my guess is that it is a controller that only lets one window motor be active at a time, thus not drawing too much current at once.

Hello,

Sequential windows ?

It's an expression which describe the possibility to open and/or close the windows (car) by a fast and short pressure on windows switch.

All new cars have these.

More details and explications here: http://philippe.boursin.perso.sfr.fr/pdglevvi.htm

Oh, you mean like on my Mini, one press and it goes all the way down? Seems like slot of work for something fairly pointless? Maybe I miss the point..

It's an excellent option for a sport car like as the murena.

No reversible modification because no cut of the murena wiring.

Invisible touch, because hide into door panel.

Easy to connect and/or de-connect modification.

A good idea for expand windows switch wiring few short from my point of view.
