Title: Electrical Mystery Fault

For a while I have had an electrical fault but it always seems to rectify itself. Let me explain.
A few runs last year while out in the Matra I would lose ignition and the engine would die, before we came to a standstill it would burst into life and have no more problems.
It wasn't persistent enough to investigate as it would always rectify itself.
However after standing for a while I took it for a good drive last Saturday of about 30 miles everything seemed fine. Stopped the engine for a while and very un characteristically took a bit of time to start. Thought no more of it.
On Monday jumped into car didn't start first time very unusual thought nothing of it got work. Finished work jumped into car again took a bit of starting went to Garage to fill up. Filled up jumped in tried to start and engine wouldn't fire. Mystery reappeared checked all fuses as I have had the fuse fault before no fault still wouldn't start. After 5 minutes of head scratching and the embarrassing moment of sitting at the forecourt with boot up rang my son who promptly came out and towed me home. I tried to start on the tow rope n=but to no avail. Pushed into the car standing and left it to stew for a while as I was in no mood to muck about investigating what the cause was.
Went to the car today to see if the car would start and bugger me first turn of the key and it burst into life. I have just been for another 20 mile run and again no probs. Starts on the button again sweet as a nut.
There must be a probem any one any ideas or suggestions?

Of cause you ahve checked all the connections in the ignition system.
Sounds like a loose connection somewhere. :-\
While the car was giving you hard a time, did you check if there was a spark at the plugs?
How old is your ignition coil?
I found one of the terminals on my coil to be loose when I had my Throttlebodies fitted... It had run fine.. but surely it was going to cause trouble at some point.

I agree, it sounds like a loose connection.
I would check the connector in the left side of the front compartment (next to the fuse box) and the green connector in the engine room - I'm ready to bet one of them or both have tabs with a good deal of corrosion ;)
