Title: Trailercoupling missing the original part
Post by: Blom on May 16, 2008, 06:38:44 pm
Hi, im looking for a spare part for my grand espace, its an original trailer coupling part. In german its called kupplungskugel mit halterung. So its the kugel im missing, I guess its what called the Tow ball

I have the little plastic plate attached to the coupling telling what type it is, but it doesnt indicate what part I should look out for, so now i seek help amongst you.

The car were born with original trailercoupling, that could be removed with two umbraco screws... Ive attached some pictures as it looks like.

Hope to hear from you guys with some pointers where to go search.

Thanks

Hi Blom

I suggest you call Mogens from Birkegårdens Autodele and discuss it with him. You could drive down to him and have a chat while he looks in his computerised spare part catalogue.

Hi, ive allready spoken with Mogens, but he couldnt help with it, he needed a spare number he could lookup, and we didnt get anywhere after that. So if you have any other good ideas that would be great.

Thanks

Hmm.... if Mogens gives up, it may become difficult. But if noone here can help, you might be more lucky with the German Espace-forum: http://www.espace-freunde.de/

Hi, I think I found out something. At this http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/TOW1? (http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/TOW1?) there is a towball that should match the Grande Espace, so I bought one and shipping included it ended up in allmost 40£  ;)

I look forward getting this, ill let you all know wether it works. and allso on the Renault sticker that were placed on the towbar, it says 11,5 kN and Stützlast 85 kg and on the one ive just bought it says This is a Listing for a 50mm Tow Ball (EC Approved) - (Gold)Type approved towball. A type approved towbar is required for 'S' registered vehicles and onwards. This will fit any flange type towbar. 'D' Value 17kn, 'S' value >200kg

This looks okay...

Thanks

Hi, I think I found out something.

Good to hear. Good luck with it. The one you have there is for permanent fixing and you'll have to remove the adapter plate behind the lid on the bumper. The adapter plate you have is obviously one that is designed for a removable tow bar - I looks like it is supposed to be slotted in and turned, and locked in place somehow. The standard permanent tow bar is fitted like the one you have ordered, but has a rubber bellow over it to cover the bolts.

Hi Anders, why is it a fixed one? isnt it just about unscrewing two bolts and then attach the towball? and after using it, remove the two bolts and remove the towball and off you go? ;) On this link you can see its listed in the detachable towbars.. http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/tr%20847d?&caSKU=tr%20847d&caTitle=Towtrust%20Flange%20Detach%20Towbar%20Renault%20Espace%2003%20ON (http://stores.channeladvisor.com/towbar/Items/tr%20847d?&caSKU=tr%20847d&caTitle=Towtrust%20Flange%20Detach%20Towbar%20Renault%20Espace%2003%20ON)
