My 73 Bagheera
August 12, 2012, 09:53:35 AM
Hi, I have a 73 mod Bagheera that I had stored in a 12-year period. wondered to begin to restore it again, it has been used imported from France to Norway in 73, by a dealer, and registered the same year. This was / is the first Bagheera registered in Norway.
The color was originally yellow, but was quite early repainted gold with red candy, and it was mounted on some Ally Cat wheels on it, 6x13 "(195-55. 13) front and 8x13" (235- 50.13) rear
original wheels were used in the wintertime.

Here are some pictures of the project, and some production numbers, if I understand it correctly, the markings on the wheels is that these are produced in June and July in 73 ?

Well done you!

It looks, from the pictures, to be in nice condition.

I can recommend the Repair and Restoration book produced by Phil KItch in the Matra Enthusiasts Club UK. I have used it on all my restorations (all Series 2 Bagheeras).

Go for it!

The Bagheera Repair and Restoration manual is available from the UK. The link to the author and publisher, Phil Kitch, is on the Matra Enthusiasts Club UK website and publically available.

http://www.matraclub.org.uk/comittee.html

I am told that there are a few details in the book that need updating but for a '73 model I doubt whether much has changed.

It is the Bagheera owner's Bible! I trust it.

Let me know if you have problems.

Gedde asked....
is it the same as this book i have ?

And I forgot to answer you!

No, it is different. I think the one you pictured is an official Matra book and very valuable I am sure.

The Phil Kitch Repair guide also has a blue cover but with the heading: "Matra Enthusiasts Club UK".

I can scan the cover for you later.

The "Reparaturanleitung" is one issue of a wide range of repairings-instructions. These "Do-it-yourself"-books were very common in Germany in the 80´s.  At a time, where it was possible to repair a car instead of looking on a message of the on-board-computer and only changing parts.

Good luck with your restoration.
