Change airfilter on a espace JE 2.0l 16V

HI

I had a plan to change the air filter. Where is itlocated? There is a box on the right hand side of the engine but looks like sealed box where is the filter itself? How difficult is this task?

that's exactly what I wondered when I first bought my espace, It was difficult to spot.

it's located behind the cylinder head allmost.
there is a rubber strap holding the box you mention in place, remove that.
the box , which is a kind of silencer can the be lifted up and pulled forward.
its not necessary to remove any other screws or retainers to remove the first item.
the peice that is next retains the filter, take a look with a mirror and you'll see 4 screws that need removing.
they shouldn't come out completely and get lost.

the original filter is a Mann  C1858/2   ( renault   8200431051 )
coupe filters are Mann CU1931-2

put some silicone grease/ o-ring lubricant around the edge of the filter before installation and the same on the rubber seals for the airbox.
