Renault Espace car insurance

Just had a quote for renewal for the AA for £430 fully comp for my Espace 2.2DCI 2002. My Volvo T5 that the Espace replaced was £205 on the same policy. I'm not a fan of shopping around for quotes due to the amount of rubbish I subsequently get in my inbox so who do you insure with? Where have you found the lowest prices?

Hiya, I've used Autonet, Swintons and Hastings Direct in recent years. You have to shop around now to get the best deals. Never stay with the same crowd for more than a couple of renewals. I go online for quotes, use a false phone number and if I get lots of spam from them, I make a rule in my inbox. Simples lol!

Its more expensive because of the seven seats. I insure through the RAC & LV

hi, I have just read your tale of woe in respect of the insurance renewal price for your espace, and had a similar problem last week. I was quoted over £500 to renew my espace insurance and did the usual "gocompare" price comparrison to reveal comparable quotes of just over £300, so I went back to my insurer and gave them the figures and low and behold they reduced my premium to match, saving me £200 for the price of a phone call.
I must admit I nearly told them where to take their insurance but decided that it was better to stick with the devil you know, as we have 3 cars insured with them, and the policy includes full breakdown and european cover.

£180 that is cheap. I went with Tesco's insurance in the end which wasn't as cheap as that I have to say - £280 for the year plus a bit extra for RAC breakdown (I'm still not too convinced I can get the Espace home with a rubber glove and a hammer!). Will take a look at Hastings at renewal - thanks for the tip.

was with hastings last year and paid £191 ( I think)

this year they sent a renewal saying it would be £280 !

went on the comparison sites and hastings came up at £186
so I phoned them and said that I did not want to renew as could get cheaper
at £186 so the lady on the phone said they would do £180

got 9+ no claims and am 45 if that makes any difference

if you use comparison websites check with as many as you can as the prices will vary

also you could go via one of the cashback websites to get to the comparison websites
and you will them be able to claim a cashback, which could be £50 or so

meant to also say, don't leave it to late to get a quote
as if you only have a week or so left on your old one the price can go up

In December I was pleased to get insurance for my old J636 for £124.11, from insure.co.uk after a search of price-comparison sites and then bargaining with my previous insurer. That's for 3 named drivers; good no-claims and age 55 must have helped.

Cheap to insure, but no longer cheap to maintain - 1994 Espace RXE 2.0 petrol 162 000 miles.
