Having stripped out the passenger seats and seatbelts I suddenly decided to start overhauling the seats. They probably have not been cleaned for twenty years and the frames of the middle seat has gone rusty. So I decided to take steps .

I stripped the rings off that hold the seat fabric from the base of the centre seat, this seemed like an easy one to start with. The frame is quite rusty and will need rubbing down, treating and painting.

The seat fabric has gone straight into the washing machine, and is pumping out thick brown water right now!

The foam is in good condition but I have just bought some hessian to cover the base of it with, which will stop the foam shedding onto the floor of the car.

Next job is to cut and glue the hessian on to the foam and repair some holes in the fabric. Then paint the frame and refit.

Just been quoted 800-£1000 for a full retrim so decided to verhaul it myself for now. The problem is the seams are worn out and will need to be stitched. Probably have a year left before I have to get it done. The french fabric is very expensive too.

I plan to redo the upholstery in mine. It is the same golden velour as yours and it is dirty and worn.
I have found a microfiber furniture fabric that looks almost like the original.

Colour no. 10 is not bad either and probably easier to keep looking clean.

Now I've refitted my two passenger seats I might hold off on retrimming for a while as I think there is a huge improvement. The only problem is the seams are wearing thin. I might get another years use from them. I haven't yet washed the drivers seat, so stripping that is next. In the photo, it's not a shadow, it really is so much darker/dirtier than the passenger seats.

If you've not done this, I really recommend it. It makes a huge improvement and it evens smells nice
