I want to swap my 1,6 engine with a bigger and/or powerful one. Which engines can be used with the least modifications needed?

Which engines can be used

I have a Peugeot 205 1.9 8v GTI engine in my 1.6 (1983),
or rather: I had, as it is currently out, due to a crankshaft  bearing failure :-(

Left engine mounts is unmodified

RIght enginemount has a little special bracket

bottom mount is a rod, running at an angle, to connect the chassis mountpoint with the engines mountpoint, which on the XU9 JA engine is about 20cm further to the right.

driveshafts are welded together, - Peugeot inner, to Matra outer. Have had no problems with the welds for the 100.000km I'v done
over the last 5 years.

Is the 205 GTI engine any different from the 1.9 litre from the 405?
