Radiator switch wiring

Hello
Anyone have a pic or wiring diagram for the radiator thermoswitch for a 1.6? The wiring on mine is a little butchered?
Cheers
Ian

These French wiring diagrams aren't that helpful in determining how the wiring is routed, but there is an unfused ignition live feed to one side of the thermal switch, the second terminal is connected to the fan motor and the second terminal on the fan motor goes to earth.  They are in the wiring bundle that runs down the left side of the front compartment and appear to be grey except the earth which should be black.  Roy Gillard will sell you a nice laminated wiring diagram for a fiver.

Cheers thanks. I'll use that as a starting point as a bypass has also been installed by a PO.

Hello Ian,

I would suggest (to you and all Murena owners) using a relay in between the radiator switch and the cooling fan motor if you wish the switch to last.  These switches are commonly known to fail which is another reason why it is good to have an over-ride switch; but I believe one of the reasons for these failures is the switch contacts don't cope well with the large motor current.

If the motor is wired from a relay, then it is also easy to add the over-ride switch to simply turn on the same relay.

As Peter has stated I can provide laminated wiring diagrams for the Murena  AND  these are also accurate, whereas all the others I have seen have mistakes including the original factory ones.  In fact the factory only had two: one for the 1.6 Murena and another for the 2.2 Murena; but in fact there are many more variations owing to changes during production.  I can supply correct wiring diagrams for all these variations provided you tell me exactly which spec. you have, so you should email me if you want one for your car.  Obviously I can only produce them for a car that is to one of the standard specifications and not for one that has non-standard wiring (unless you can provide the exact non-standard diagram for me to include).
