Bagheera X 1980 + 7 Citroën

« on: June 03, 2008, 08:12:16 am »

It is soon time to start the engine of my Bagheera after 15 years of stand still. The engine is renovated, pistons are new and the cylinders have new bores. All bearings are new, the crankshaft is polished and the camshaft is new. All channels for water and oil are clean. In fact it is a new engine.
My question:
How do I break it in?
What type of motoroil should I use?
When do I make the first change of oil?
Do I drive on full gas or low revs?
When can I use it as a normal car?
I would appreciate any suggestions, I am sure there are many different ideas on how to do this!
Thank You!

you need high preassure so the pistonrings will seal complete.
so, you drive as usual with high gas but dont overrev it. and dont pull hard from low revs.
let it drive as usual and pull upp in the revs.
do it when oil is warm.

change oil after 2000km.

Id use some semioil, thick one
